Loved that this book was mainly about the characters instead of repeated time exploits. But did like the brief tie-ins to her other series. Narration always a win.

The narrator has a soothing voice but doesn’t/can’t differentiate much between characters. Makes it a little hard to follow conversations. Great for putting me to sleep, though.

Her books are so predictable and boring any more. And shallow. I am giving low ratings to all so I can stop getting constant recommendations for her books.

Best. Narrator. Ever.
Reviewed: 05-29-24
I’ve listened to every book in the series. Most are truly wonderful. A couple less so. But this review is a testament to Davina Porter’s narration. There are a LOT of characters, both male and female, young and old, Scottish, English and American. It is just extraordinary how Ms Porter brings the author’s characters to life. And allows you to visualize them without the background thought that it is a woman reading a man’s part. Or an English person reading a Scottish part, etc. Each character is easily recognizable from book to book. I do hope Diana G appreciates Davina’s contribution to the success of the audiobook series. Because without her these long, complex and multilayered audiobooks just might fall flat.

A fitting tribute to Michael Crichton
Reviewed: 06-27-23
Of course there can never be another Michael Crichton. His skill at weaving complicated scientific concepts into a story can’t be replicated. But this book comes pretty close, The story line is creative and the pace is constant without being overwhelming. Even Mr Crichton, in a few of his later books, seemed to write the book as an action movie script, moving from one disaster to the next without a lot of character development in between. And I mean no disrespect because he was one of my favorite writers of all time. I’m grateful that someone can pick up the reins and give us a great techno thriller in the vein of Mr Crichton.

Loved the premise. Great characters. Outstanding narrator. The only reason I gave it an overall 4 was that it was a little slow in spots. An example was the excruciating detail of installing internet in the house. But I can't wait for the next installment to see what happens with the butler and other characters. Enjoyable listen.

Julia, we know you are smart, OK?
Reviewed: 10-15-22
Let me first say that Julia Whelan is one of my very favorite narrators. I have many of her books. And her two written books are enjoyable reads. But the frequent reminders of her lofty education, the use of words that require a dictionary, and an entire chapter of her character making witty come backs can get tiresome. That said, I will continue to listen to the books she writes because they are entertaining, and listen to the books she narrates because she is great at it.
