Story
Evie and Thomas experience a very different war. Frustrated by life as a privileged young lady, Evie longs to play a greater part in the conflict - but how? - and as Thomas struggles with the unimaginable realities of war, he also faces personal battles back home, where War Office regulations on press reporting cause trouble at his father's newspaper business. Through their letters Evie and Thomas share their greatest hopes and fears - and grow ever fonder from afar. Can love flourish amid the horror of the First World War, or will fate intervene?

Such a charming story. This was my second time through this book, and I look forward to year after year revisiting this story.

Story
Hardly a day passes without Trille and Lena inventing some kind of adventure that often ends in trouble. Whether it's coaxing a cow onto a boat or tobogganing down the steepest and iciest hill with a chicken, there is always a thrill - and sometimes an injury - to be had. Trille loves to share everything with Lena, even Auntie Granny's waffles, which make everything just perfect. But when Lena has to move away, and Auntie Granny leaves the world, it sometimes seems nothing will ever be right again.

Story
Creel can't believe her aunt wants to sacrifice her to the local dragon. It's a ploy to lure a heroic knight so that he will fight the dragon, marry Creel out of chivalrous obligation, and lift the entire family out of poverty. Creel isn't worried. After all, nobody has seen a dragon in centuries. But when the beast actually appears, Creel not only bargains with him for her life, she also ends up with a rare bit of treasure from his hoard: a pair of simple blue slippers, or so she thinks.

I love this book so much I couldn’t even wait for enough credits to get the rest of the series. I recommend it to all ages but I’m 11 so that’s just my opinion, there were a few parts where I was worried what I’d hear, but I love Jessica day George books, and also recommend the rose legacy, and Tuesdays at the castle. thanks so much!❤️🙂

When her brother, Rolf, dares her to catch magical Castle Glower, creating a new room, Princess Celie takes the challenge! No one knows the castle better than she does. But as usual, the castle has ideas of its own. Celie finds the new room, and inside it is hidden a giant egg. It looks like the castle wants Celie to care for the egg and whatever creature it hatches! Celie hadn't bargained for a pet, and caring for this one will prove to be especially tricky, once Celie and her siblings realise what else the castle is hiding.

My family loves this book! My children have listened to it multiple times before I sat down and listened to it myself. And now I'm hooked, too! The performance by Joel Clarkson is impressively done. The story is such a fun and engaging adventure. My kids have gone on to listen to and read all of S D Smiths books, and I plan to join them. What a fun connection to have with my children.
