Story
For thousands of years, the Chiss Ascendancy has been an island of calm, a center of power, and a beacon of integrity. It is led by the Nine Ruling Families, whose leadership stands as a bulwark of stability against the Chaos of the Unknown Regions. But that stability has been eroded by a cunning foe who winnows away trust and loyalty in equal measure. Bonds of fidelity have given way to lines of division among the families. Despite the efforts of the Expansionary Defense Fleet, the Ascendancy slips closer and closer to civil war.

Exceptional Ending… and Beginning.

Epic end to an epic origin.

Love how this ties in a lot of former canon. Timothy Zhan never ceases to make masterful stories, even in this botched Disney canon. Well worth the listen or read for all star wars fans.

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

great story, inconsistent narration
Reviewed: 09-03-21
Great story. However they kept changing whether or not the primary narrator or the voice cast spoke characters and the narrator didn't put exactly the same voice as the cast did. It either needed to be read only by the narrator or have the casted voice so the character throughout. The whole cast was great, just needed consistency.

great story save for continuity error
Reviewed: 10-12-20
it's a great story with great performance but in the movie obi wan was convinced quigon was only not invited to council because of himself. yet this shows him being invited and turning it down and obi wan knowing this. it would make more sense if the invite was revoked or obi wan believed it was. then continuity would be kept. slight change big fix.

Epic story - Great tie in
Reviewed: 07-24-20
it was amazing till the last chapter, then the last chapter jumped a little too quick and I felt like the main character was not yet at that point to do what he did. I would have given it 5 stars but the epilogue only focused on finishing off the main POV character. The other main character just did a 360 herself without explanation just so disconnected. everything else was wonderful and just a slight change in the end chapter and maybe a quick word from her somehow which would explain her sudden shift would have made it excellent from beginning till the end. It gives a lot of good backstory to the world and ties in very well.

Story
On the planet Tython, the ancient Je’daii order was founded. And at the feet of its wise Masters, Lanoree Brock learned the mysteries and methods of the Force - and found her calling as one of its most powerful disciples. But as strongly as the Force flowed within Lanoree and her parents, it remained absent in her brother, who grew to despise and shun the Je’daii, and whose training in its ancient ways ended in tragedy. Now, from her solitary life as a Ranger keeping order across the galaxy, Lanoree has been summoned by the Je’daii Council on a matter of utmost urgency.

January did a great job capturing voices and reading the story. the story itself was hard to put down. I did not like the changed view of the force that the entire series pushed as did the clone wars and the new trilogy. It is so prevalent it detracted from the story a little.
