The islands of Britain and Ireland hold a rich heritage of plant folklore and wisdom, from the magical yew tree to the bad-tempered dandelion. Here are traditional tales about the trees and plants that shape our landscapes and our lives through the seasons. They explore the complex relationship between people and plants, in lowlands and uplands, fields, bogs, moors, woodlands and towns.

Joan Walker: Reason I Bought This Title.

I enjoy these stories, they are interesting and well detailed, but truth be told, Joan Walker - the narrator's voice is so soothing that, I'll probably buy any book she narrates, this is my 3rd one!

Story
Written for the five-year-old son of her former governess, The Tale of Peter Rabbit was Beatrix Potter's first literary offering. Immensely popular upon its release in 1902, The Tale of Peter Rabbit featured a mischievous bunny who encounters a cranky old gardener and his cat.

I listen to this at night, it's my perfect bedtime story (stories). Joan Walkers voice is engaging, but heavenly for slumbering too. I do believe that if they tallied up the listens, I'd win an award for listening to this one the most! I chose this book because it was 8 hours long and narrated by a soothing voice, now I want all the books in my collection narrated by her, but the stories are fun and whimsical too! All perfect for a dreamer🌛 Goodnight! 😴

The Accents are Soothing
Reviewed: 11-13-21
I really wish there were more volumes. The English accents are soothing and helps me fall asleep, which is interesting because I have had insomnia for well over a decade now.
I see quite a few negative reviews, if I may suggest, focus on the accent, not the story while your fan lulls you with white noise in the background. I turn this on, turn my A/C down and snuggle into my pillow under the comforter.

Story
They were three Black girls. Dawn, tall and studious; her sister, Kim, younger by three years and headstrong as they come; and her best friend, Debra, already prom-queen pretty by third grade. They bonded—fervently and intensely in that unique way of little girls—as they roamed the concrete landscape of Bronzeville, a historic neighborhood on Chicago’s South Side, the destination of hundreds of thousands of Black folks who fled the ravages of the Jim Crow South.

Captivating, in a Every-Day-Life Way

I found this book to be very captivating, not in an action way, I wasn't at the edge of my seat at any time, but in a normal, every day life way. When you lean in with your friend and they tell you a very personal story, kinda way.
They picked the right story teller, her voice is smooth and comforting, it's as if it is her own.
I couldn't put the audio away I started, what 2 days ago, and I wrapped it up already.
I found it relatable, even though we are worlds a part and found myself teary eyed, like her aunt Doris. Yet, at times I also chuckled. I am grateful to the author for sharing her story.

Story
Hannah has felt as bitter as November in Minnesota since Ross vanished without a trace and left their marriage in limbo. Still, she throws herself into a baking frenzy for the sake of pumpkin pie and Thanksgiving-themed treats while endless holiday orders pour into The Cookie Jar. Hannah even introduces a raspberry Danish pastry to the menu, and P.K., her husband's assistant at KCOW-TV, will be one of the first to sample it. But instead of taking a bite, P.K., who is driving Ross's car and using his desk at work, is murdered. Was someone plotting against P.K. all along or did Ross dodge a deadly dose of sweet revenge?

Books drones on too long

Unecessary dialogue. Just went on too long, then ended abruptly. Could have been half as long, and I might have enjoyed it.
