Beware of the info dumps

It’s a really fun read for a new fantasy reader easing into the genre. But there is some big info dumps in the middle of the book that made me put it down. And the repetition of information gets frustrating but I am invested enough to read the second book mainly because of the ending

If you've read more then several thrillers you'll call this whole plot in the first section of the book. But if this is your first its a great place to start

I love storyline dominos and watching them all fall together into beautiful chaos but this one had a few too many dominos out of place to finish the thread. There were too many people to invest in without enough time to care. Huge let down after The Night Circus. Although that bar is at inhumane heights

Wow just... nope. Where was the editor to remove all the constant repetitive information dumbs? How many times did I as the reader need to hear the same information? Seems to be a minimum of 3 times. To also not a single plot twist? The narrator was the only thing that kept me going if I had read this as a physical copy I would stop 100 pages in.

I first wasn't really bothered by the older rhetoric of the book as it was set in the 90s but when I learned it was published in 10s I was annoyed. It reads like a typical man's point of view on feminist. With no corrections from the author of how she learned these views weren't true later in life. It felt like 'this guy is gonna murder us' was used as a device for plot interest because the author didn't want to confront the multiple of mental health issues instead. Contrary to a lot of other reviews the narrator is why I finished the book. I feel like it made the writing believable coming from a naive child like voice. Would DNF if reading own my own.

I enjoyed most of the book but the end of the love story needs more rewrites. It was a struggle to believe the escalation of that plot. But otherwise enjoyable

Worth you time for anyone struggling with an ED or negative self talk. I only wish she would have been as careful about the reputation of common self degrading mantras as she was about number specifics. I know understand the are integral to the story but they can be just as harsh as numbers when said in rapid succession.

Talk about whole plot lines that should have been cut down to a single paragraph. This felt more like a debut self published book that refused to make any edits.

Wildling gets a little eye roll naive towards the end of the middle but pulls it together for the end. While partially predictable for betrayal and fake betrayal still worth the read. Recommended if you enjoyed Caraval Series

I was 100% enthralled by the first half of the book. But then all of a sudden I thought the detective was horrible at her job missing blatant opportunities. She should have been tension building the whole time working a cold case intersecting with the other timeliness but none of that happened.
