Story
Alex Green is a young girl in a world much like ours, except for its most seminal event: the Mass Dragoning of 1955, when hundreds of thousands of ordinary wives and mothers sprouted wings, scales, and talons; left a trail of fiery destruction in their path; and took to the skies. Was it their choice? What will become of those left behind? Why did Alex’s beloved aunt Marla transform but her mother did not? Alex doesn’t know. It’s taboo to speak of.

The story was really good and I like how the writing almost takes you back to the 50s and '60s with the verbiage that was used. Right now I am on this sci-fi fantasy female protagonist Kik.

Story
When Martha Einkorn fled her father’s isolated compound in Oregon, she never expected to find herself working for a powerful social media mogul hell-bent on controlling everything. Now, she’s surrounded by mega-rich companies designing private weather, predictive analytics, and covert weaponry, while spouting technological prophecy. Martha may have left the cult, but if the apocalyptic warnings in her father’s fox and rabbit sermon—once a parable to her—are starting to come true, how much future is actually left?

This is the second piece of work by Naomi that I have read and I absolutely am in love. I keep recommending this to everyone I see. My book club recommended " The power ", and their opinion was that it was a bit too violent. I on the other hand quite enjoyed it. it moved at a pace that keeps your interest while challenging your internal thoughts and values.

Great Story, befitting a YA audience
Reviewed: 08-09-23
The story was enjoyable, with a few plot holes. There were points where the narrator explained the goal, only to follow up with curiosity about why she could not find the purpose. The maturity of the primary character is in alignment with a teenager. I am hoping that this will be explained soon. The swallowing during performance distracts from the words. It could be my limitation in understanding the lack of Annunciation during specific character changes, but maybe I will acclimate to it.

In this “miracle of literary serendipity” (The Washington Post), after finding himself deep in the thrall of heroin addiction, the soldier arrives at what seems like the only logical solution: robbing banks. Written by a singularly talented, wildly imaginative debut novelist, Cherry is a bracingly funny and unexpectedly tender work of fiction straight from the dark heart of America.
