Story
On September 5, a little after midnight, Death-Cast calls Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio to give them some bad news: They're going to die today. Mateo and Rufus are total strangers, but, for different reasons, they're both looking to make a new friend on their End Day. The good news: There's an app for that. It's called The Last Friend, and through it Rufus and Mateo are about to meet up for one last great adventure - to live a lifetime in a single day.

Love the narrators. Didn’t like the story.

They Both Die At The End was a great listen but it wasn’t necessarily a great book. I appreciate how it touches on difficult topics for a teen audience, and if this came out 5 or so years ago maybe I would appreciate that more, however given how great some other recent YA books have approached topics like death or grief, this one doesn’t hold up.
In the book, society now has the ability to see WHEN someone is going to die and on your death day, you receive a call early in the morning to let you know your day has come. Two teen boys receive their call on the same day and because of their mutual circumstance, spend the day together quickly forming a strong relationship.
This device felt cheap to me- a cool premise but in practice, half-baked. And when “modern day” teens aren’t really portrayed as modern day teens (they all sounded like mid to late 20s adults), I lose my interest.
The narration for this audiobook was fantastic and was the reason I decided to pick this book up in the first place. Bahni Turpin narrates The Underground Railroad, The Hate U Give and The Sun is Also a Star - Michael Crouch narrates Simon vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda - all great audiobooks.

Story
Four young women's lives intersect in the apartment they've shared in Hell's Kitchen: Claire, a shoe designer; Abby, an aspiring novelist; Morgan, a successful financial consultant; and Sasha, a resident in obstetrics. As different as they are from one another, the women had become a family by choice. But while their lives had proceeded smoothly in the years they'd lived together, new relationships, job opportunities, and surprising circumstances will test the strength of their bond in and outside the loft that had become their home.

Mindless - in a good way

This was my first Danielle Steel novel and I picked it because I wanted something that I could listen to while driving, but not have to pay complete attention to. This was perfect for that and I found it overall fairly entertaining.

Story
In 1951, the second year of the Korean War, a studious, law-abiding, and intense youngster from Newark, New Jersey, Marcus Messner, begins his sophomore year on the pastoral, conservative campus of Ohio's Winesburg College. And why is he there and not at a local college in Newark where he originally enrolled? Because his father, the sturdy, hardworking neighborhood butcher, seems to have gone mad - mad with fear and apprehension of the dangers of adult life, the dangers of the world, the dangers he sees on every corner for his beloved boy.

I'm glad I stuck through the end

I was having a hard time staying interested in the book and the story, and if I was reading on paper, I probably wouldn't have finished the book. I think listening on audio kept me interested enough to finish and I'm glad I did -- I found the last 25% or so of the book the most interesting part.

I really enjoyed the narration of this book and found that the mystery was easily possible to follow without having the ability to flip back and froth in a book. Dan Stevens is an incredibly talented voice actor and was very entertaining to listen to.

Enjoyed Mindy's First Book More

Any additional comments?
After reading Mindy Kaling's first book "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" (I read it on Kindle) I felt that "Why Not Me?" wasn't nearly as enjoyable, and I thought the audio version would help keep me engaged.
The stories and essays in the book didn't seem to connect for me and I lost interest about halfway through before eventually finishing the book. If you love Mindy, maybe it's the book for you! But it just wasn't for me.
