Horrible

These stories seem to have been written by a teenaged boy. Every juvenile name for penis appears in the first 10 minutes. If Beavis and Butthead got together with the Mean Girls to write a book, this is that book.

If you are a fan of the series do not get this book, you will just end up disappointed and confused. If you are new to the series, and are a fan of the Stephanie Plum novels, you will probably enjoy it. The book itself wouldn't be so bad as a stand-alone with new names for the characters, but the changes to characters that were so well developed is hard to take. The relationships are completely different - for the first half of the book I was trying to figure out if I had missed something - I just couldn't figure out why everyone was behaving completely out of character. there are plot holes everywhere, and the change in author partnership is VERY obvious. As I was listening to it, I just kept wondering if Ms. Evanovich paid any attention to what already happened in the storyline, as this book makes no sense at all when considering previous events. I'm really sad about it, because i loved this series, and for me it ended with the book previous to this one. i doubt i will keep reading, even if there are more books in the future. I will say that Mr. Brick did a wonderful job with the material he was given - he is a really good narrator.

When CIA agent Merry Wrath is "accidently" outted, she's forced her into early retirement, changes her appearance, and moves where no one will ever find her - Iowa. Instead of black bag drops in Bangkok, she now spends her time leading a young Girl Scout troop. But Merry's new simple life turns not-so-simple when an enemy agent shows up dead at scout camp. Suddenly Merry is forced to deal with her former life in order to preserve her future one.

Such Potential wasted

What disappointed you about Merit Badge Murder?
The protagonist is supposed to be a former CIA field operative, but she can't lie her way out of a paper bag. The way the character is written, it was completely unbelievable.
What could Leslie Langtry have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
do some research about the CIA in general, and make me believe that it's possible that Merry was actually trained at the farm. Maybe watch a couple episodes of Burn Notice or Quantico
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bailey Carr?
XE Sands would have done a better job, or CJ Critt is one of my favorites. Ms. Carr has a hard time with male voices, and she reads every sentence with too much dramatic pause. Pouring a glass of wine should not have the same emphasis as finding a dead body. Also, someone who can actually do a Russian access would be helpful

Addison Holmes is at it again in this New York Times best-selling series by Liliana Hart. In her fifth adventure, Addison sets out to discover who stole a kidney from her newest client - a kidney that was still very much attached to its owner when it was taken. With her brand new P.I. license in hand, a marriage proposal on her mind, and Aunt Scarlet and Rosemarie as backup, nothing could possibly go wrong.

The first chapter or two is so annoying that the only reason i kept going was my desire to know what happened. There was no editing of the sound track and the repetition of some parts was horrible. After the first couple of chapters that does get better. I really like this series but the author has definitely taken some creative license here. Nicks grandfather dies in book one but suddenly he's alive and a senator. Addison had an incident involving her hair previously in the storyline and had to cut it but in this book she cuts it for the first time since she was little. It's like someone else wrote this story without reading the other books. Still, it was an entertaining story, just didn't seem to go well with the previous books in the series.
