Story
"The Lord is my shepherd." Thus begins the most beloved of all Psalms - and thus begins a thousand-year journey through the Bible. Prophets, apostles, and Jesus himself took up this image from David, reshaping it, developing it, and applying it to their own situations and needs.

Story
There is an increasing interest in the mystics, contemplative faith, and what it feels like in real life. We have teachers who can explain the path and help us understand, but we need guides who have experienced the path and who can show us how it unfolds. This is what The Making of a Mystic is all about.

Story
"Lent is inescapably about repenting." Every year, the church invites us into a season of repentance and fasting in preparation for Holy Week. It's an invitation to turn away from our sins and toward the mercy and grace of Christ. Often, though, we experience the Lenten fast as either a mindless ritual or self-improvement program. In this short volume, priest and scholar Esau McCaulley introduces the season of Lent, showing us how its prayers and rituals point us not just to our own sinfulness but also beyond it to our merciful Savior.

This will be the first time I will be practicing Lent and this was such an amazing book to introduce me to the discipline. Esau does a great job of narrating and it is very easy to listen to.
