Story
God has dreams - just for you. Becoming Myself is a hope-filled audiobook for anyone who wonders if her life will ever change - if she will ever change. In Stasi Eldredge’s most intimate work yet, she shares her own struggles with self-worth, addiction, and her past as she shows listeners how God is faithfully bringing us to a life of freedom and wholeness. God desires to restore us, and he is able to restore us - the real us. As he heals our inner life he calls us to "rise to the occasion" of our lives.

Not particularly moving. Author/narrator hisses her S’s.

The content is OK, I wish there were more biblical references. Much of it is the author relating stories and statements, while they are encouraging I’m not sure that she’s just saying things that her audience might feel good to hear or if they are in fact biblical. Anyway, her voice got on my nerves. It seems like she is performing, and it just rubs me the wrong way. She does this in videos too and it doesn’t seem natural. The S thing bothers me. I’m sure she means well and maybe she does love Jesus. Jesus loves her too and so I am not attacking her but you just need to listen to the sample to see if it is something g you don’t mind listening to for hours.

Story
Arterial blood gases (or ABGs) are some of the more difficult lab tests to understand in all of medicine. Sure, there are normal results given along with the test values, but it doesn't end there. What does a certain pH in the blood mean? Where does the bicarbonate level come from? These components, along with other values, need to be understood so you can interpret them.

I have no problem with the content of the book. It is in-depth, and perhaps even more in-depth than it needs to be at times. However, sometimes it’s hard to follow for even an experienced nurse because the narrator chooses to put emphasis on certain words at strange times, and mispronounces things (for instance HCO3- is literally pronounced as HCO3 DASH.) The narrator is trying to make it sound like a narrative sometimes, you hear laughter or excitement coming through his voice when it doesn’t even make sense, or like caution sometimes when he says however. It makes this serious scientific work sound kind of cartoon-ish and it really got on my nerves. I feel like the one that hired this narrator did not even listen to how stupid he made it sound. Awful. Helpful Matthew just doesn’t have any business narrating this type of a book.

On the beautiful planet Pern, colonized for centuries, Land Holders and Craftsmen have traditionally tithed food and supplies to the dragonweyrs to which they are bound. In times past, the mighty telepathic dragons and their riders were the only protection from the dreaded, life-threatening Thread. Now those times may be returning....

Meh. Not my favorite Anne McCaffrey title.

Cannot STAND the narrator. So irritating how he shrieks and throws his voice… the audio is kind of harsh too. But the writing and story are decent, if perhaps a bit challenging to follow.
