The Narrator Ruined It
Reviewed: 10-16-24
As an audiobook connoisseur, the narrator is hands-down the worst I’ve ever heard. I barely made it through and will not be listening to the second. I will read it on kindle instead. Mispronunciation of the word “hearth”, over-emphasis on every “T” (example: nighTmare), and limited skill with creating male voices (every supposed man sounded like a pre-pubescent boy) made this an unsatisfying listening experience.
Was the book good? I’m undecided. I think I’ll read it again, sans audio.

Coby Collins is a typical third grader. He goes to school, has friends, and hates peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that have been left in plastic all morning. Oh, and his teacher's evil and trying to destroy him! Listen and hear about Coby and his adventures with his best friend Antoine. Together, they try to get to the bottom of everything that's happening with a girl named Suzy Trudell and the teachers at Marley Elementary School.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would recommend to someone who had elementary school kids. I think it's fun for that age group and would definitely pique interest and imagination.
What other book might you compare Coby Collins to and why?
I would compare Coby Collins to the old Goosebumps books. Creepy and a tad scary in a harmless sort of way.
What about Brian Allard’s performance did you like?
Brian is very expressive and has a knack for doing the different voices which makes for a more rounded listening experience.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Teachers in disguise! (haha, Transformers...get it?)
Any additional comments?
