The virtual narrator is a woman for a m/m romance. It was confusing as heck.

Charlie David is a god! I would listen to him read a Wikipedia page or 20.

The story line is so cute! It is kind of a slow burn but both character’s trauma is in line with their reactions. Nathan and Tim are a gem. I love their story line as well. I kind want a book for them then a continuation of J+D’s story. If it already exist then I’m definitely going to read it if not, then my sentiment stands.

All the the things Brax has done to Saint was the most middle school girl drama I’ve ever witnessed. Maybe the real reason Brax didn’t make partner in his other firm was because his emotional maturity was 12. The fact that he can blurt out things that are misconstrued has me wondering how he came this far as a lawyer. How can he be this good of a family attorney when he can make sense of his thoughts. Honestly, balloons wouldn’t have had me forgiving him.
Saint’s brother was in an accident and he made it all about himself. Pushed Saint away that same night and had the audacity to say he loved him in balloons? No. We’re not even going to discuss his hypocrisy. Can’t.
The narrator was good though so that’s 5 stars.
3/5 stars and 3 of those are for Saint because I’d wrap that cinnamon roll in my arms and accept him for who he is because he’s worth it.

Not for me. One of my pet peeves is miscommunication trope. I hate it when adults do not talk each other. When these two have issues they just skirt around it without addressing the issue. It’s almost drawn out to create more drama.
How hard is it to say “did you sleep with your old friend?” or “I’m having bad dreams because of…” these are adults y’all. instead it just gets f#@k out of their system bc that’s healthy. Honestly, idk if it got smoothed out because i jumped to the last chapter i just couldn’t take it anymore. Hey, I’m at the end of the duology and i just heard, “i promise I’ll tell you everything” lol yea no. I’m glad i Skipped chapters. Also, how can this 40 something not tell his bf he’s scared of heights. Sorry, i really hate miscommunication tropes. So I’m venting.

First of all, Charlie David, is perfect for these books. He does Xander’s Anchorman’s voice so well. This is my favorite audiobook Trilogy in the Chicagoverse series and it’s all because of Charlie David.
What would be better than this? If the whole series was combined into one book collection so I could listen to it straight.
I love Xander and Sean’s story.
One issue I have is how Bailey reacted, it was a bit much for what it was. I would’ve liked to have the bad guy in the first book live until the 3rd book. Idk, it was just out of character for Bailey.
But, do i listen to these audiobooks over and over again? Yes, of course!

On Third Act Conflicts

Reviewed: 10-23-21

As an avid reader and audiobook listener, I have read lots of romance books with awful third act conflicts. Not only the ones you see coming a mile away because the conflict was somewhat predictable on this book. However, I believe the conflict was well executed.

I believe Deacon have always loved Julian. Even though Deac said he was jealous of Julian’s relationship with his family. I’d like to believe there was more. Although, I like reading about straight to gay trope, it’s a bit unrealistic but then again that’s why this book is a work of fiction.

I love Deacon and Julian’s relationship. With all their internal struggles they are each other’s strength. I love this. It’s a mature headspace. None of that “I can’t tell him this” dragged on for 10 chapters.

The fact that Teddy Hamilton and Tim Paige narrated this book was icing on the cake.

Will definitely listen again!

This review is for the whole series.

There was another writer aside from James that has their main MC just utterly incapable of fighting off their libido. I forgot who and what book it was. At least MK learned to fire a gun. Otherwise, the whole "She's such a badass" just wouldn't make any sense. The fact that the boys are capable of wiping out her intent/thought process/sense when they give her a hungry look, makes it so unrealistic that I can't wrap my brain around it. I understand that she uses it as a coping mechanism but still...

MCs that I love? Actual badass that can multitask and think even while they're horny. I mean, isn't that the basic female superpower?
Still, it was interesting enough to keep going. I kept reading because I wanted results and resolutions. I got none.
In the end, I had more questions than answers. It left me wanting more. So, I'm going to purchase Hades story. However, I have a feeling it's going to be worse because then I'll have unresolved issues in Madison Kate's world plus Hades' world.

If you want sex though, it delivers.

I hate Annalise. I am absolutely annoyed of this character. It’s of my pet peeves — having characters holding back for no reason or unfounded fear.
Otherwise, I love the rest of the storyline.

I bought this book for the bickering but I hate drama created by characters forcibly not saying what they already know even to people they say they trust. “I trust her.” “I tell him/her everything” except for ALL these important things that’s important. I’ll keep all this info so drama can be created. Yeah. That got old and annoying. So, Luca and Aria’s story is still my favorite.
