About this listen

Tragedy brought us together, but something stronger made me want to stay.

Julian was the boy next door. My brother's best friend, he fit with my family in ways I never could. While he and Rhett went on to play house, I left the only life I knew, desperate for a fresh start. Until everything changed.

Heartache came along, and the aftermath of my brother's death was here to stay. I was now face to face with Julian more than I ever wanted to be.

Being around him brought up all my insecurities, forced me to deal with hard truths, and conjured up feelings I had no business entertaining. He wasn't the man I thought I knew. He was complex and layered, and inherently beautiful in all the ways I'd never noticed. Not on another person. Not on another man. Not until him.

Contains mature themes.

All I needed to see was the cover and the narrators and I knew I need this audiobook. What a great surprise that not only is the cover so hot and the narrators amazing, the story is also perfect. I enjoyed this book so much that I can't wait to listen again. Deacon & Julian were so right for each other and I loved the way their relationship started and grew. I was a little nervous in the beginning because I am not a big fan of the "GFY" trope but this was nothing like what I am used to when it comes to a straight & gay man relationship. I expect the straight man to fight his feelings and the gay man to try to turn the straight man gay and that is absolutely not anything like this book at all. Even though I can count on one hand the sex scenes in this book, it was super hot with all the chemistry and longing between them. The story line was heart breaking but it was handled so well in my opinion. This is the first I've heard of this Author but I will be looking for more for sure.

The narration was PERFECT!!!! Teddy was amazing as always but add Tim Paige and together they knocked this book out of the park!! They truly have the right voices to work together, there was no jarring change between chapters, they flowed so well you didn't even notice. I HOPE to see more of these two together!!!

The story is absolutely beautiful, and the narration... What a dream team. I’d listen to Teddy and Tim all day, every day and be in heaven lol. Have a box of tissues handy.

I love a great happily ever after, and they are so much more when it’s a growing love over time. I was sad that it took Rhett to die for these two to see how they are made for each other. I have been looking at this book for a while, and am very pleased I chose it now.

I loved this book so much.

"I'm not attracted to men," I say boldly. "I'm only attracted to you."

Without You is a heartbreakingly emotional romance about finding your way after loss.

Deacon and Julian have tolerated each other because of Rhett, Deacon's brother and Julian's boyfriend. When Rhett passes away, it breaks everyone. One year later, Deacon returns to Montana for the anniversary of Rhett's death and when he and Julian start spending time together, things between them change.

Deacon and Julian's story is emotional and pulls at all your heartstrings. After reading Ache, I had to go back and read/listen to Without You. I loved how they bonded and their relationship grew once they talked and got to know each other. I could not believe Deacon's mothers' reaction to Deacon and Julian. I am excited to read more books by Marley Valentine as she grips your attention right from the beginning of the book and keeps your attention through the whole book.

Audio … Teddy Hamilton and Tim Paige were amazing at bringing Deacon, Julian, and their romance to life.

"You're the beat of my heart, the blood in my veins, the strength in my bones. None of me works without you. And if you need me to tell you every day for the rest of our lives, then I will, because you are more than enough. You're everything."

4.5 Maple Leafs … Without You by Marley Valentine is an m/m brother's best friend romance told from the first-person point of view of Deacon and Julian.

I think this might be the first time I enjoyed reading the book more than listening to it. The audio just didn't bring the emotions I felt when reading it as much as I was hoping for and I had some trouble separating voices to know who was speaking. The story is still really great and strong, but I recommend reading this one vice listening.
This was more than just a romance novel, this was an epic journey of finding peace, love and happiness amidst a tragedy that tore so much apart. Deacan and Julian were both broken for different reasons, but it centered around the death of Rhett and how that effected their family, their relationship and their lives. They gradually become friends and then more as they work to heal. The emotions, love, feelings, desire...everything just oozed from the pages and captured my heart. The love and intimacy between Julian and Deacan was exceptionally written and made me laugh, swoon, cry and just feel so much

first book from this author. I was really impressed with the story development and how the characters where brought together. It's a fine line between doing this story justice and making it creep but it was well navigated.

wow.

Why did it take me so long to listen? I have had this in my library for a while but didn’t know if the concept of Deacon falling for his late brother’s boyfriend was too much. Trust me, it was SO GOOD!! I loved this story so much. Deacon and Julian deserved to find each other. This obviously had a very drama heavy storyline, but there was no unnecessary obstacles or self destructive behavior causing the two to prolong a HEA. So happy I got this and will definitely listen repeatedly.

Happy tears - lots of them! Omg so glad I listened!
