Story
Eight months ago, I was a naive, small-town farm girl nursing a shattered heart. Then hotel billionaire Henry Wolf picked me up off the ground (literally), and my entire life changed. Now, I live in a luxurious Manhattan penthouse, and I'm starting my first company while planning a beautiful wedding to the man of my dreams. I knew these first months would bring plenty of drama. I expected the savage media attention surrounding our engagement, and I braced myself for Mama's theatrics about the wedding.

One of America’s most celebrated novelists, Cormac McCarthy announced his towering presence on the literary stage with his first novel, The Orchard Keeper. Within the pages of this classic work, John Wesley Rattner, his uncle Ather, and bootlegger Marion Sylder find their lives dangerously entwined in pre-World War II Tennessee. There, the men’s tragedies and struggles are mirrored by the looming specter of industrialization.

Difficult to follow. The personalities shown through but I found it hard to track the conflict. And the demise of the poor old dog was too sad.

Story
All Systems Red is the tense first science fiction adventure novella in Martha Wells' series The Murderbot Diaries. For fans of Westworld, Ex Machina, Ann Leckie's Imperial Raadch series, or Iain M. Banks' Culture novels. The main character is a deadly security droid that has bucked its restrictive programming and is balanced between contemplative self-discovery and an idle instinct to kill all humans.

Sweet relief from today’s cultural and political insanity. The voice talent is great and pace is perfect. As I listen I’m wishing for more interaction between Collins and his wife.

The pace and humor is enjoyable. But the storyline as it relates to Reacher has yet to sink in. It feels like this is piggy back storytelling because I’m not sure how popular this series would be without the reacher hook.

Another conversion theme?
Reviewed: 05-28-17
It was disappointing and dispiriting to realize this otherwise heroic character went down the politically correct path of conversion to Islam. How about a hero who holds to his / her judeo-christian values? You know, the values our country was built on. The country this character sacrifices so much to defend.
