Story
In One Wild Bird at a Time, Heinrich returns to his great love: close, day-to-day observations of individual wild birds. Heinrich's observations lead to fascinating questions - and sometimes startling discoveries. A great crested flycatcher bringing food to the young acts surreptitiously and is attacked by the mate. Why? A pair of northern flickers hammering their nest-hole into the side of Heinrich's cabin delivers the opportunity to observe the feeding competition between siblings.

Story
Some people insist that culture is strictly a human feat. What are they afraid of? This book looks into three cultures of other-than-human beings in some of Earth's remaining wild places. It shows how if you're a sperm whale, a scarlet macaw, or a chimpanzee, you too experience your life with the understanding that you are an individual in a particular community. You too are who you are not by genes alone; your culture is a second form of inheritance. And your culture, too, changes and evolves.

Wonderful Audiobook
I loved having the audiobook. The narrator voice and the bird sounds as background sound on top of the fun facts about birds did it for me. My daughter loves to learn about animals especially birds. She always talks about Cardinals and Blue Jays and of course I had to get this book for her. Today my daughter was sick and this was her homeschool material. She enjoyed it very much that she even jumped out of bed to answer the quiz portion. Even I was answering it 😁. Who knew there's more than 18,000 kind of birds in the world? Anyways, this audiobook was short, fun to listen to and we enjoy it very much. We finished it in about an hour.

Great facts and a lot of fun!
We have some bird and animal lovers in our home and we really enjoyed this audiobook. We've been studying birds for the past few months and my son always seems to know all interesting facts before I can teach them. With this book, we still managed to learn a lot of great things and got to review them with the quiz at the end. It was great!

Great book for bird lovers!
This is a great book for anyone interested in fun facts and learning about birds. It's a great alternative for spending time with your kids instead of being on technology while learning at the same time. I love the review quiz at the end as well.

Great for kids who live trivia
My kids love to tell me random information they find, and this book is perfect for them. 101 random, interesting facts that were fun to learn about. As a bonus, quite a few facts give more information, so there are really more than 101 facts in there. We learned flamingos eat with their heads upside down to filter their food from the water.
