About this listen

31 Days To Get The Message: Traveling With Paul takes Paul's New Testament letters (Romans, First and Second Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, First and Second Thessalonians, First and Second Timothy, Titus, and Philemon) and divides them into 31 daily listening segments.

Paul's messages to believers, to churches, and to his closest friends provides a roadmap for us today in our individual lives and in the ministry of the church.

Wonderful!

For some the Message doesn't seem to be the inspired Word of God, but I feel it is. Peterson taught both Hebrew and Greek at a theological seminary before pastoring in a congregation. His experience with much of the congregation and people he worked with knew virtually nothing about the bible or had become bored with it. He qoutes in The Message Bible "I live in a 2 language world, the world of the Bible and the world of today. So out of necessity I became a translator". He paraprased the bible from the original Hebrew and Greek to make the bible more understandable and relevant to people today. It is powerful and real. The narrator is exceptionally good. Maybe the best I have heard in all my years as an Audible.com listener. I closed my eyes and became immersed in hearing Paul's letters in a soothing voice that could easily be the voice of Paul.

I will listen to this audio over & over! ♥

Absolutely love this audiobook! I praise God for the authors & Narrator. They've done a blessed work!
The Word was bought forth in an everyday, contemporary dialog! I believe it to be especially enlightening to both, new & young believers.
I shared this book with others and I will continue to do so. I want them to get in on this!
Now, I'm going to look for other titles by this author/narrator!

Good only for the established believer.

I love Paul’s letters. His lessons are key to living life in this turbulent world. He shows us how to live as Christians and gives us practical advice we can use everyday. There have been few people as uncompromising and clear as Paul. As to the issue of this being inspired word: I’m reasonably sure that divine inspiration would remove the need for clich?, slang, and trite images. The Message needs to be renamed to something like The Barely Adequate Paraphrase. That said, and in the spirit of Paul, I think this is a good tool if it brings you closer to the Lord. Be fairly warned though: this should not be a substitute for the true Word. Some of the interpretations are dodgy and cut down. I would hate to think of a follower being misled or confused to what His will is by the author’s over simplification and sweeping statements. In listening to this, there were sections that deviated so much for NKJV, NIV, or any other version that I’ve read that I didn’t even recognize them. In short, I’d find this a good tool only for the established, well-read believer but not for those new in the faith.
