When a bomb explodes, damaging their ship, it sends the crew on unexpected adventures.

Review

"An engaging, romantically infused SF tale of an alternative-Earth empire." (Kirkus Reviews)

"Readers looking for elaborately detailed world-building, intriguing futuristic tech, and sci-fi universes with a more upbeat tone will be quickly drawn into this creative work of speculative fiction." (SPR, 4.5 stars)

"Fans of team- and world-building will enjoy accompanying this ancient Earth SF epic's inviting cast through the rainforest." (Publishers Weekly)

"An imaginative and immersive plunge into a futuristic landscape set 6500 years in the past. The most impressive aspect of the novel is the depth of detail in everything from the visceral environment, savage wildlife, and odd culinary options to global history, societal organization, and the dynamic relationships between the main characters. This intensely creative future world is well thought out and undeniably unique, particularly when it comes to technological advancements. A Buzz is a striking vision of a futuristic alternate history." (Self-Publishing Review)

"A high-stakes sci-fi adventure set in a technologically advanced South America." (Independent Book Review)

Hunger Games meets Avitar

I liked that as I read I was able to understand all of the new technologies that were introduced by the author. Also, the importance of preserving/saving the environment which is seen equally as important as saving the peoples.

I felt that the characters had some depth as the book continued. I was introduced to family members and past experiences.

There was the introduction of a love interest towards the end. But of course one of the partners was taken prisoner by a separate culture/tribe.

There was some history given concerning the different groups which lead me to understand the reason for the kidnapping.

This first book did a fantastic job at setting the stage with background, technology, relationships, cultures, and even favorite siblings.

The story line really begins to develop at the end. I am intrigued as to what will happen next. Who will survive.
