About this listen
History is dramatic - and the renowned, award-winning authors Christopher Collier and James Lincoln Collier demonstrate this in a compelling series aimed at young listeners. Covering American history from the founding of Jamestown through present day, these volumes explore far beyond the dates and events of a historical chronicle to present a moving illumination of the ideas, opinions, attitudes, and tribulations that led to the birth of this great nation. A Century of Immigration reviews the century of 1820 through 1920, in which there were two waves of immigration to the United States.
This book discusses the varied motivations and nationalities of these new Americans, as well as the effects of mass immigration on the country as a whole, and the rise of antiforeign sentiments among more recent immigrants.

GREAT HISTORY LESSON
The information contained in this book has a wonderful overview of a crucial and important period of history. The systematic chronological display was well received. Great job.

Another great installment
I really enjoyed the way the author connected the events in other countries to the choice of those people to come to America. Some of the stories like the one of the recent immigrant keeping slices of white bread were really memorable.

Great!
Because I am interested in genealogy, I found this book to be one of the best in the series. However, I find them all good and easy to follow.

Immigration
An interesting overview of immigration in America with a logical and fair assessment of it's cause and effect.
