About this listen

For centuries two meg-powers from the future have been waging war for control of timelines of history. Alan Norlund, a WWII airman vet, is promised a lifesaving cure for his granddaughter, if he will undertake a mission 50 years back in time to the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Hitler with his "angels" from the opposing power would like to take over our timeline and 1933 Chicago may be just the place to start.

Written 40 years ago, the author took the story as far back as when he himself was only a few years old. Published in 1984, Saberhagen, of Berzerker series fame, set most of the story in 1933-4, and it ends up in 2034. He may have intended it to be the first book in a series, which I probably would have greatly enjoyed. Ah, I remember 1984 well. A fairly simple story it is, and not overwhelming with much hard science at all.
