Publisher's summary

A prequel to the vampire series "The Firsts"...A Novella that takes a step back to see where the heroine of Forbidden Days came from.

Punk took care of her drug, sex, and alcohol addicted mother as well as she could. Their dismal apartments were always spic and span after Mother's "parties" because Punk wanted to please her mother and she had a natural sense for order. All she really wanted was for her mother to love her, but no matter how hard she tried, Mother looked at her like she was a monster. And she knew why...it was because of her bizarre talents. Punk knew she was different, she just didn't know why.

This novella is a prequel to the Vampire Series "The Firsts" and tells the story of the troubled childhood of that book's heroine. It is a dark tale that details some of what she went through with her mother, addicted to drugs and alcohol, and made a living providing sex for men. We learn later that there are reasons that her mother is so troubled, but this novella is mostly the child's story as seen from that point of view. It is harsh at times, but true to her journey that begins, as a successful woman, in the first book of the series, Forbidden Days.

It is an introduction to new readers, and a special glimpse into the past for those who already know this Bestselling series.

Park's Story!

I absolutely LOVED this short novella by C.L. Quinn. This story is about Park and the author has opened the door for some people like myself who has questions. Now that I've listened to this story alot of my questions have been finally answered. I must say if you haven't had a chance to read/listen to this series yet then start with this one first but I still must recommend that even if you're like me and have read/listened to the series you should get this one because it does fill in some gaps. This is a back story on how Park grew up. This story sheds light into Park's life and. why she was the way she was in book 1. Her childhood was horrible, even though Park was a very intelligent girl. We learn where she was and how she got away.

Narrator, Natalie Duke does an excellent job bringing this story to life. As Natalie tells the story you feel Park's emotions, the sadness, and eagerness to be something better, get away from that life. The narrator does a wonderful job with distinguishing accents and the different voices. I look forward to the next story about the First Bloods. I received this audio from the author in exchange for an unbiased review.

This one is Park's story from her little girl to adult perspective....Park's mom was a horrid woman who was a prostitute and tried to sell Park as a young teen also...well Park wouldn't have it...she secretly got her diploma and do to the kindness of a stranger was able to escape to California and go to UCLA...she left her mother in good riddance...and never looked back...this story takes us up to the night she went on that failed date with Zach...it was a good story!!

This is the beginning....

A Child's Days... This is a novella Prequel to the First Bloods Series. In this story we learn how Park got to where she was when we met her in book 1. Her mother never wanted her and named her Punk. Punk lived a terrible childhood, yet is extremely intelligent and has goals for her life. We learn where Park / Punk was all along and how she escapes that life.

Read along with the narrator, Natalie Duke as she exposes Park's life with lots of voices, emotions and excitement. The author, C.L.Quinn (T.C. Butts) does a great job with the plot. This story explains so much and gives (to me) so much more meaning to the story in Book 1 and the First Bloods family tree. The lack of compassion from the mother only made me feel more compassion for the story and for Punk / Park. Every book I have ready by this author has been a fantastic read! I really look forward to these books!

Mommy from Hell !!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Child's Days to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version and this is a first for me by this author. I enjoyed the story very much however and will listen or read other books in this series.

What other book might you compare A Child's Days to and why?

To be honest I haven't read a book that compares.

Have you listened to any of Natalie Duke’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is a new to me narrator and I have to say she does an excellent job. Very well spoken and brought the story to life.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I hated Punks mother. She was a horrible mother, and to name a child such a name gives you an idea of how cruel the mother is. I did not laugh but at times my heart hurt for the young girl.

How Punk became Park

C.L. Quinn is and new author to me. I have never heard of this author and I had no idea what I was getting into. I know this prequel came out after the first book, Forbidden Days, in the https://www.goodreads.com/series/97306-the-firsts series. I wanted to know more about the heroine in Forbidden Days before I got sucked into the series. The series has an average of a 4.22 rating on Goodreads so I figured why not.

This story is not as intense as I thought it would be. There are some times where I was like WTF, what type of mother is this woman? There wasn't anything overtly abusive that occurred with Punk, which the mother should be ashamed about naming her daughter that, but she still suffered.

All Punk wanted to do was take care of her mom and make sure her mom didn't end up dying. However, Punk learned hat nothing she can do would be able to 1, save her mom; 2, make her life better aside from getting an education; and 3, accept that she is in this alone.

I love the narrator in the story and I hope that she continues to read the story even though this story comes later in the series but fingers crossed.
