About this listen

Widowed Jessie Adams was about to give birth, and she needed help - fast! Unfortunately, the closest ranch in her small Texas town belonged to her late husband's brother, Luke, who didn't know a thing about delivering babies. And though this charismatic rancher was her only hope, he was the last person she wanted to be stranded with in her time of need.

I liked the story. The narrators normal reading voice was great…but the character voices were off to me the whole time. Luke sounded like a 60 year old smoker and Jessie sounded like a 15 year old hillbilly. I finished it and enjoyed the story and writing itself…but I had to just decide to look beyond those voices because they didn’t match the characters at all.

Good Story…Character Voices are Really Off

I have listened to several books by this author and this one was the best of them so far. Yes, it is formulaic as much romantic fiction tends to be but sometimes that is just what the doctor ordered.

What put this book over the top for me was the narration. I thought the narrator captured the essence of the characters perfectly and elevated the story and listening experience. With all due respect to previous reviews, I beg to differ. I will be on the lookout for her narration in the future.

A WARM CHRISTMAS GIFT

I loved the Christmas theme, with the family message. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

Captivating story

The story was great! The narrator was terrible!! The voice she did for all of the males, especially Luke, was awful.

Hard to listen to

The narrator was awful. I tried to get beyond that but just could not. Love the author hope the next one has a different narrator.

Couldn’t finish

Sweet and warm story. The narrator made me laugh multiple times. Although funny, the voices of Jessi and Luke were too deep and distracting. I would’ve had the narrator’s voice narrating and every character acted by other people, if you know what I mean.

Story is sweet; narration so-so

The story was fine
The narrator voices were very unpleasant to listen to
Like sounded like an old women and Jessie did also

Narration could be better

This book reminds me of the formulae romance novels of the 70's. I've listened to a number of this authors works and none were so --- I can't think of a good descriptor. The narrator almost made me stop listening but I trudged through. The narrators female voice was shrill and the male sounded like he didn't have a clue. By the end I was moderately interested in the family then I saw the same narrator on the next two books. No thanks.

Must be the authors earlier work

Awful reading!!!!! Could not list to past chapter 1. Don’t spend your money. Jess was unbareable.

How bad the reading was
