Publisher's summary

"Every idiot who goes about with 'Merry Christmas' on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding," says Ebenezer Scrooge. Mean old Scrooge despises Christmas until Christmas Eve, when a haunted voice from the past changes his life: overnight! Many know this story but few have experienced the true marvel of the tale.

Prebble is one of the best!

I am an avid audiobook listener and I have to say Simon Prebble is one of the best storytellers I have heard yet. He does the voices perfectly, without sounding corny, irritating or melodramatic (as is all too often the case). His narrator's voice is very pleasant and soothing to listen to. HIGHLY recommended.

Fantastic

Simon Prebble is a sensational narrator. He has done an outstanding job of bringing this Christmas ghost story alive. Not too much drama, or over exaggerating in his performance. Just exceptional.

A great reading of a Christmas classic

I’ve listened to many versions of A Christmas Carol and this one is definitely worthy. The narrator gives a great performance and brings the characters to life.

A real treat with excellent narration

I recently listened to A Christmas Carol with narration by Tim Curry, which was fairly good, and another in an anthology, which was so poorly done I couldn’t listen more than a few minutes. But Simon Prebble is far and away the best narrator. The story itself is classic and totally worth the listen - the details add so much to the story that the tv and movie versions just don’t have. It makes Scrooge’s transformation completely believable. I found this narration easy to listen to. The voices for the different characters made sense and added to the ease of listening. I even found myself tearing up in a few places, so realistic the story became. I highly recommend listening to the whole unabridged story and this recording in particular. This is how a classic story like this one should be heard!

Sit back and enjoy this old Christmas story.

I enjoyed this old Christmas story. I’ve see the movie, but never read the book. It’s is a nice quick book to listen to. Merry Christmas.

A Christmas time MUST

I loved the narrator! He did a fantastic job. Captivating and just the right thing to listen to while wrapping presents and getting into the Christmas spirit.
