About this listen

Bring history back to life through Jim Hodges' historically accurate, exciting, and edifying audio recordings.

Australia in the 1830s was a wild place. Reuben Whitney, escaping an inaccurate perception of him in England, enjoys an adventurous passage aboard the Paramatta, and sails "down under." Joining the police force, he makes his mark in conflicts with the Aborigines and Bushrangers. Finally, he saves the life of a squire's daughter who has emigrated to Australia following her father's financial ruin. This story is filled with adventure, close calls, and historical information about the early days of Australia!

Another G A Henty Classic

I agree with what another person said in their review; I wish I had read these books growing up more! The main character exemplifies what it means to be a good, honest and caring young man. Really loved this story.
And another great reading by Jim Hodges.

Another great story of Australia

I always enjoy the GA Henty books I just wish I had read them when I was young and in school. They should be recommended reading for all young people as there is always courageous young boy with good morales despite his circumstances.

I enjoy a good Henty book

always know what I'm getting from a Henty book, and this didn't disappoint! Fun story following the main character all the way around the world.

Absolutely Horrible

The reader sounds like he's reciting Mother Goose. i couldn't even finish it even though it's free.

Pretty slow.

This book did not keep me on the edge of my seat. I gave it three stars because the language was clean and could be enjoyed by the whole family.
