About this listen

Three weeks before Christmas, the little town of Chug Water in Wyoming Territory is stunned by a brutal crime. The mayor's family has been slaughtered in cold blood on their ranch outside of Raw Hide Butte. As the townsfolk gather to pay their last respects, Duff MacCallister saddles up to go after the killers. He returns with two outlaws - a cold-blooded, nasty pair of snakes, Jesse and T. Bob Cave. But the day before they're sentenced to hang, the Cave brothers escape their fate...

Into this holiday hell-storm ride three friendly travelers. Smoke, Sally and Matt Jensen, come to spend Christmas with Duff. But a deadly diphtheria outbreak leaves the town beholden to the mercy of the Cave brothers. It's a desperate bind to be stuck in, but Duff and the Jensens will use every bullet they can find to shoot their way into a bloody but merry Christmas.

Vulnerability

Old West Christmas story that reminds me of how lucky we are to have modern laws and medicine. Wonderful characters round out a good story, but beware, not a typical cozy Hallmark Christmas.

Not your typical Christmas fluff

I was surprised by the serious plot of this "Christmas" book. While a couple of the characters are stereotypical, the story was completely original and unexpected. There were 2 main storylines but neither detracted from the other. Some plot points didn't work for me and the book wrapped up quickly after the climax which was disappointing. Overall would recommend.

Great read

Another great book by Wm. W. Johnstone , and J. A. Johnstone, as they weave a western novel, and some historical medical information. I enjoyed this book very much.

Christmas Series (Frontier Christmas)

This is another excellent western. These Christmas series are great. This one has Duff and Smoke and they are both hereos. I like smoke and Duff.these Christmas books combine more of the family that's scattered out. They come together to fight the bad guys. Elmer is also helping Duff. There is a lot of adventure a lot of excitement. You don't want to stop listening. Jack Garrett did an excellent job narraiting this . He did good with Duff's voice to and that's hard to do. P J. Ochlan was the only one that I liked doing Duff's voice. But Jack did as good. This book is well worth using a credit or just buying it. Smoked out!

I'm a huge westerns fan. I'm a huge smoke Jensen fan. And a huge Christmas fan. It's a no brainier. HowwwwwwEverrr.... This book is just not very ....ummm.... Meaty. It's very loose. There's not a lot to hold the listener. There's not a lot of "smokiness" to it. Above all... It's predictable. If I had a dollar for every time I looked at my iPad and rolled my eyes and said exactly what was coming next in a sort of nonchalant, all-knowing,back to the future sort of way...well,then, I'd have an extra 16 or 17 bucks. I don't know, this is the first review I've left, I felt responsible to let other Smoke lovers, that this individual title sucks!!
