Publisher's summary

Brimming with pleasing plot twists, this heartwarming sequel to best-seller A Miracle for St. Cecilia’s demonstrates the power of prayer and the courage of compassion. Robbed by his construction partner, Barry struggles to complete a riverfront hotel and pay off menacing mobsters. But while he and dozens of other denizens of Dorsetville await God’s help, a series of events helps transform the town forever. John McDonough strikes just the right balance as he enhances Katherine Valentine’s cozy, feet-up-on-the-footstool tone with his comfortable cadence. Listeners will also enjoy Valentine’s Grace Will Lead Me Home.

Narrator

I love this series but I prefer the first original narrator. He did a good job, just wish it were the original narrator.

Love

I love the Story and the Narration. All the Dorsetville Books are wonderful. The Haunted Rectory is the worst creepy book I’ve ever read. Only got half way through and knew it was trash. But I highly recommend this one

Homespun Story telling

I enjoyed this book as one to unwind with. It is set in a small-town with memorable & interesting characters. It centers on a Catholic priest, his parishioners & friends.

John McDonough is a great narrator....

We enjoy the books. After number four I am ready for a change. Surprised Hill is getting better. He reminds me of Barney Fife.

Wonderful story

What did you love best about A Gathering of Angels?

A great Christian story of real people and their relations to God. A little heavy on miracles but that is OK.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Molly-she was different

Have you listened to any of John McDonough’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

He is WONDERFUL and really makes the story warm.

Hum--lost opportunities abound

Any additional comments?

To me the book is filled with disconnected characters and disjointed, jagged story lines. Connections are made unbelievable by poor story telling so that themes just don't fit together or make any sense at all. Overall harshness in tone and judgmental attitude added up to make this story a disappointment. Further, concepts of the power of prayer and the Rosary deserve a better presentation than this. The book draws too much from the Mitford series for my comfort without any of the charm. Even my favorite John McDonough couldn't save this one for me.
