About this listen

Karen Kingsbury, author of 24 books, has warmed the hearts of millions with her tales of miracles. Gideon's Gift captures a Christmas miracle that touches a frail young girl and a gruff homeless man.

Eight-year-old Gideon Mercer loves to help people, but she has leukemia. When her illness goes into remission at Christmas, she is sure this miracle is a gift from God. So to celebrate, she and her father volunteer to serve meals at a mission for the homeless. She meets dirty, sullen Earl Badgett there, and although he refuses her friendship, she gives him a small gift. This one act will lead to a series of miracles that will change the rest of Gideon's and Earl's lives, and affect countless others.

A story of faith, charity, and rebirth, Gideon's Gift is sure to inspire all listeners with its message of love. John McDonough, critically acclaimed for his colorful narrations of Jan Karon's Mitford books, adds a special warmth to each word.

Yes, it is all about what is really important in life, and how the faith of a little child can change us all

That it shows us that we adults can miss a lot of what is most important, but innocent children, take God at His word . . . and when they do, LOOK OUT, that kind of faith moves the mountains

Gideon

Any additional comments?

I listened to this book the same year that my own family suffered two terrible personal losses . . . it brought healing and joy to my soul.

Heart Warming

I read this book last year and enjoyed it so much, thought it would be a good Christmas story to listen to this year. It's a wonderful Heart felt story about a little girl and a grouchy old man who both discover the meaning of a Christmas Miracle.

Red Gloves

Miracles happen to those who believe. As I was going through my book collection, I came across this book series. It’s been several years since I have wandered away from believing. As I came to the end of this book, tears in my eyes, my daughter messaged me today. She has been sick and unable to walk without help. Today, she woke up and felt so much better. She needed help getting downstairs but she is walking around with her 2 year old son as I write this. We have found our way back!! We believe ❤️

God's Miracle

Should be turned into a Hallmark Movie. Great book on how we should never give up on someone.

loved this heartfelt story

this book shows us how Christmas miracles can happen if we believe and practice faith and be kind to others every day no matter how they treat us. I love the story and I could relate to the positive attitude of the little girl who was very sick and the grumpy homeless man and how her kindness changed him

Average

For me, the plot was too predictable, and the language just a bit too sentimental. Almost from the first couple of chapters, you knew exactly what was going to happen, and it did. Narration was good, but didn't compensate for the plot.
