About this listen

Dangerous tides ahead....

When her friend Alicia hires Turner Construction to renovate a historic lighthouse in the San Francisco Bay, Mel Turner can't wait to get her hands dirty. Alicia plans to transform the island property into a welcoming inn, and while Mel has never attempted a project so ambitious - or so tall - before, she's definitely up for the challenge.

But trouble soon arises when Alicia's abusive ex-husband shows up to threaten both her and Mel, and later turns up dead at the base of the lighthouse stairs. With no other suspects in sight, things start looking choppy for Alicia. Now, if Mel wants to clear her friend's name, she'll need the help of the lighthouse's resident ghosts to shine a light on the real culprit....

Love it!

I love this series. The last two books have had the BEST endings! The only downside is that now I want to listen to Treasure Island! Lol!

Light House

Ghosts and spirits, murder & mayhem….. the main character had to deal with all this when she was refurbishing a lighthouse. Her best friend was arrested for killing her ex-husband. Dealing with ghosts she had to prove her friend did not commit murder. This story is extremely interesting with twist and turns dealing with paranormal. Enjoy it is an interesting Reading.

Amusing, touching, great ghost story

Every book in this series I read I think is the best one yet. This is another one, though there are certainly some other very strong and enjoyable ones among the last few titles. I absolutely adore this story and normally I don't even follow the genre, but this series has me totally hooked. It's also a love story at many levels and from many angles, yet none of the feelings come off as cloying or contrived despite the fantasy elements. Blackwell never insults her audience but we are right there with her heroine Mel through her self-doubts, her awkwardness, and her courage and compassion for others.

I have grown to love Mel! Next one please!

XE has really come a long way in bringing Mel and all the other characters in this book to life. The stories are funny and feel real, even the ghosts. I am a believer.

Clever ending

Mel Turner is remodeling a lighthouse and bringing it back as a B & B and restaurant on an island located in San Francisco Bay. Of course, in the process she also is solving a murder and trying to figure out the back story of the two ghosts who already reside on the island. Although nearby boaters are upset because the construction area is now closed to the general public the police consider Alicia, Mels’s friend, the prime person of interest in the murder. Mel is looking for an answer to clear her friend’s name.

The lighthouse information and the use of the keeper’s logs in this story made it especially interesting. JB does great research.

This story keeps you guessing and, yet, the clues that are laid in plain sight throughout the adventure all point to the extraordinarily clever ending.

I've always enjoyed Juliet Blackwell's Witchcraft Mystery and the Haunted Home Renovation series and wish she would write more of both of them.

Thanks For Another Engaging Mystery

Another fun mystery by local author Juliet Blackwell. I really enjoy both of her series. And I've been impressed by her recent single titles, too! Thanks, Ms Blackwell!

Excellent Story and Excellent Narration!

My 1st book by Juliet Blackwell which I started reading as I liked Xe Sands narration. Interesting mystery with heart and a loveable family of characters. I definitely will read the rest of Juliet Blackwell's books.

Something so many authors sometimes forget...the writing of the story is critical but the delivery of the story is also critical. Too bad more and more authors are going the cheaper route to automated voices or not understatnding the impact of the narrator and thus choose a narator with poor voice inflection. Xe Sands has warmth and understanding in her voice and she knows how to engage the audience when she delivers the author's words as she brings the story to life. I have read many authors I never would have known existed, as I follow a good narrator's works. And I find good narrator's by following good author's works, who have picked good narrator's.
