About this listen

It's not the war he wanted.

Commander Jacob T. Grimm is eager to get back in the war, but when an ambassador to a nothing planet called Cordoba pulls strings, Interceptor is the convenient puppet.

Assigned to escort the ambassador, accompany the Marines, and participate in wargames with Cordoba, Jacob fears the only action will be against boredom.

He couldn't be more wrong.

A coup is brewing on Cordoba and Interceptor and the Marines of Bravo Two-Five are caught right in the middle.

Betrayed on every side, Jacob has to come up with his most daring plan yet, if he's going to save his crew and his ship.

What Jacob doesn't know, though, is an old enemy is in league with the coup. An enemy that wants Commander Jacob T. Grimm's head.

Trapped between a rebellion and invaders, Jacob can't see a way out. There may be no victory he can achieve. Attack or defend someone will die—and only Jacob can decide who.

Good Solid Mil-Sci-Fi Fun!

After 6 books, I'm pleased to report that the story keeps getting better! Haskell builds on the previous novels, focuses on the people experiencing the military life, facing the kinds of decisions those whose serve in the armed forces today might deal with, except of course IN SPAAAAACCE. A solid recommend!

Stuck between a fleet and a hard place

I love this series. This one really puts Grimm and his Marines in a tight spot.
I never cease to be amazed by the accurate military details Haskell puts in his books. It’s a lot of what makes his stories so easy to get wrapped up in.
There’s a scene where Chief sends a newbie looking around the ship for water for the “fusion plant”. This reminds me of privates looking for a pallet of “grid squares” and I laughed hard at it. Kudos, sir!

Mr Berkrot does a fantabulous job as always!

Oh no … cliffhanger ending!

A fun read that blends space, air and ground combat intertwined with espionage, treason, and political machinations. Without a doubt, this installment of the epic space opera yarn continues to pull the reader deeper into the Grimm Universe! It’s hard to stop listening, but wait! - only in Book 7 will we reach the outcome of this latest encounter! The reader can almost invent the closing trailer rants like the science fiction serials of old that ask -
“Will the illustrious crew of Interceptor and her Captain reach Alliance space in time?”
“Are the Marines on planet doomed to certain defeat by an overwhelming foe?”
“And what of the Alliance and her new ally?”
“How can the galaxy fend off the treacherous Guild and remain free from the devious evil clutches of the Caliphate?”
… stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of this adventure in Episode 7: Traditions of Courage - coming soon to a mobile device near you!
I’ve preordered already and can’t wait for 4/09/2024!

Excellent book in the series

I have found myself rereading the series, and it’s entirety. This book unlike the other ones and a little sharply. Definitely making me very anxious for the next book. It’s the first time that haskel has done this I’m not sure how I feel about it. So far, I am just taking it as to be continued and he is very good about getting the books out in a timely fashion so start reading from book one by the time you’re done with this book book 7 should be out. At least I hope it is.

I feel for Grimm, he just cant stay out of the polititcs! Another well written addition to the Grimm saga and as usual Peter Berkrot dominates the performance. Bit of a cliffhanger at the end, looking forward to the conclusion 😀

The logic used in Grimm’s & crew’s reactions to problems.

Excellent plot, story line, character development, dialogue, narration. Very plausible technology, action. You get very attached to the crew. Another fine book in this outstanding series. Just about the top of my list of sci-fi series over the last 10-12 years. Totally enjoyable. Can hardly wait for the next in series.

Haskell does it again!

We dive into political intrigue in this book while keeping the Interceptor crew in the forefront. Grimm's leadership skills continue to develop and his unwavering integrity is so refreshing to experience. As usual, amazing action, plot twists and great sci-fi abound. I love the detail about the weapons used in combat and the overall flow of battle. If you like characters like Jackson Wolf or John Geary in militarily sci-fi; Jacob Grimm and this series will be right in your wheelhouse

Commander Grimm’s compassion for his crew.

Really loved the story, especially the way it describes the burden of leadership in military and other situations. Accountability to others, knowing when you have to act and just how to respond. I cannot say I don’t like this part but It is kind of spinning off into subplots. They are good, but how many will retain interest. Another thing, typical in this genre is the upgrading of our main characters hardware. Same old ship warts and all, which shows the central characters skill. But, hey, how about some of those new lasers? Or better yet better armor on the good old Interceptor. All in all a great book that moments of me darn near tearing up(I kid you not), you will not regret getting this book!
