Publisher's summary

Only Omega can free humanity.

When the Ornu came, they took Earth in a single night. Humanity never stood a chance. Now, they force us to crew their ships and fight their wars for them. They hold Earth hostage, and if we refuse to do their bidding, they’ll lay waste to our precious blue marble. Slaughtering the billions who live there.

But when Captain Bill Henderson is sent to claim a small moon for his masters, he finds something they never accounted for. An ancient warship – a behemoth abandoned for millennia by a species that reached its peak at the dawn of the universe.

Could this ship of ages be exactly what humanity needs to cast off the shackles of their oppressors? Find out in Book 1 of Starship Omega, an engrossing new military sci fi saga from bestselling authors Scott Bartlett and Joshua James.

About the Creator

Scott Bartlett writes books from inside a mech, which is inside the hangar bay of a light armored cruiser stationed just past Jupiter.
Certain parts of the last sentence may not be completely true. Here are some more believable statements:
Scott was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland–the easternmost province of Canada. During his decade-long journey to become a full-time author, he supported himself by working an assortment of jobs…salmon hatchery technician, grocery clerk, youth care worker, ghostwriter, research assistant, pita maker, and freelance editor.
In 2014, he succeeded in becoming a full-time novelist, and he’s been writing science fiction at light speed ever since.

About the Creator

Joshua James followed an unusual path to arrive here (i.e. writing in third person about himself in an author biography). He has worked as both an accountant and a graphic artist. Before either of those pursuits, he submitted a string of short stories to Analog, Asimov's, F&SF and Interzone. He even got a couple published. But finding an agent and writing on spec dampened his enthusiasm. Still, his childhood love for Robotech and ST:TNG meant he could never truly ignore his geek side (and also meant he wrote Star Trek/Robotech crossover fan fiction—yes, that's a thing). He has written or co-written more than 50 novels. They all involve spaceships. Joshua lives outside Washington, D.C., with his family.

About the Performer

Mark Boyett has narrated 325 titles and counting in every genre, garnering an Audie Award for In Harm’s Way by Doug Stanton and an Earphones Awards for 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.
He’s the voice of multiple hit sci-fi series including Star Force and Undying Mercenaries by B.V. Larson, The Black Fleet Trilogy by Joshua Dalzelle, and Mech Wars by Scott Bartlett.

Another great book from Scott Bartlett!

This was a great start to this series and I can’t wait for the next book to come to audible! Amazing character development and storyline. Can’t wait to see what next in store for the crew of the Omega!

slow to get going, but worth every minute.

Was slow to get going, but does speed up. There are a lot of characters to get to know. Took me a bit to grasp exactly what the humans were going through. There is no cookie cutter Scifi here. The story didn't suffer your typical formulaic short comings, so typical with other Scifi novels. The characters go places that you will not guess.

I can't wait for the next book in the series.

P.S. Think the short stories would have been better at the beginning.

Another home run!

Do you like military sci-fi? Do you like Scott Bartlett? Scott and Josh batted this one out of the park. With the addition of Mark Boyett, these guys are the dream team for military sci-fi. Fast paced, entrenching, can’t wait for the next installment.

A wild and fun ride.

I've read many of Scott's novels and this one ranks up there as one of the best. I'm not familiar with Joshua James, but I couldn't tell the difference between who wrote what part. I read the novel when I received it for backing the Kickstarter. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the audiobook so I would have something to listen to during my deliveries. Mark is also one of my favorite narrators. When you have him as a narrator, you know it is going to be top notch.

Mark Boyett talents are wasted in being narrator

I purchased this audible book due to the narrator, Mark Boyett. However, there is very little dialogue between the characters. Mostly descriptive, which anyone could be narrating. Very sparce on dialogue and character and personality development. Thoughts and descriptions are predominant. The bad guy aliens are comic book style. So totally cruel and evil, it seems funny

Mark Boyett continues making great books even better. Excellent performance!

What a trip! As a fan of 'good' space adventure, science fiction. I have been excited to finally get to read "The Forever Ship!" It's inception - do I dare say, it's conception - started a while back. Many fans of Scott Bartlett and Joshua James have been waiting 'expectantly' for this final version to drop. (OK, no more birthing references) In summary, I thoroughly enjoyed the story. There are so many things in this book to like. Add to the great writing the audio performance by one of the best, Mark Boyett, and you are in for one outstanding adventure. I can not wait to read the follow-up book, Eternity's Battleship (Starship Omega Book 2). -Mr.Bill

Good read worth the time spent

This is a well written piece with some great insights into humanity.. at least from a different perspective than what you are used to. I would suggest reading the backstory books 1st as they make the beginnings of book 1 make more sense and it would flow better.

Superb story telling

I was captured right away, Mark Boyette brings the story to life. Being able to envision the different characters perspectives really adds a lot of depth to the story. I was eagerly awaiting the audio release and it didn’t disappoint

Hopelessness, then Hope, then ends with heartbreak - not continuing

I thought the premise was interesting but just as things seemed like they found the forever ship and would turn around, it ends on a note so devastating that I have no interest in the next book. Narrator was amazing. But sorry I bought the book.
