Publisher's summary

Boston P.I. Remy Chandler has many talents. He can will himself invisible; he can speak and understand any foreign language (including the language of animals); and if he listens carefully, he can hear thoughts.

Unusual, to say the least—for an ordinary man. But Remy is no ordinary man—he’s an angel. Generations ago, when he was known as the angel Remiel, he chose to renounce heaven and live on Earth. He’s found a place among us ordinary humans, with friendship, a job he’s good at—and love.

Now he is being drawn into a case with strong ties to his angelic past. The Angel of Death has gone missing, and Remy’s former colleagues have come to him for help. But what at first seems to be about tracing a missing person turns out to involve much more—a conspiracy that has as its goal the destruction of the human race. An only Remy Chandler can stop it.

I listen to this book again and again!

The narrator is the right blend of quirky and straight. He brings the dialogue alive.

Very good listen

What made the experience of listening to A Kiss Before the Apocalypse the most enjoyable?

I like the whole concept of the book(s) but the only thing I find hard is that all of heaven and hell seem to have their portals to earth through Boston. In Kevin Hearne's Iron Druid Chronicles you at least travel around the country and the world. Also Marlo the dog is no Oberon.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Though not the main character, I think that I like Francis. Seems to play a pivotal role

Any additional comments?

Some reviewers questioned about Luke Daniels use of a Bostonian accent, but I think it is right for the story. We have not heard him do this before, but I know in the other books I have listened to from him there have been more international characters than from parts of the US with distinctive accents like New England.

Angelic Urban Fantasy

Why did I pick this book? I had just finished all the so far published Dresden books and this book looked very similar ... and I was right. If you like the Dresden Files you're almost guaranteed to like this one.

Overall story ... I'd give it a four. It's a good detective yarn, fun story, good characters. But the reason I gave it a five star review is because of the world that Thomas created. Thomas creates a rich world with wonderful background history, and awesome detail. I would love to just explore the world that Remy Chandler lives in. Thomas has created his own world where Remy left the army of God as an angel to try to become a human, however, the change isn't easy and Remy must fight his Sephardim self constantly to remain human.

My only complaint is the all to often use of the f word, but I guess if you hang out with fallen angels you can't expect them to have clean language.

My favorite part of the whole book though is any conversation that Remy has with this dog Marlowe. Marlowe is an awesome character that really adds an upbeat, innocent voice to an end of the world scenario.

Delightfully Adult All The Way

Luke Daniels performs the characters in this tale with skill and perfection. He's a gem! Full of mythology and intrigue, the storyline is not only interesting but also thought provoking. I have hit bottom lately with too many novels that fail to build a decent plot and neglect to build character profiles that are 3 dimensional. Remy Chandler does not dussappont. If you are a fan of Dystopian or fantasy novels then you may have found a fantastic new series to love. I'm all on for #2. I want more Marlow (Remy's dog)and more Remy please!

my new favorite hero

I really enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing the series. Remy Chandler is a wonderful character and his cast of quirky friends, associates, and even enemies are a delight. This book has it all....romance and love, heros, a whole cast of villains, murder, vengeance, intrigue, and sadness that brought a tear to my eyes.

Awesome story!

Tom Sniegowski's vision of Remy Chandler is incredible. I simply cant say enoughabout the story, the characters, or the series. If it ever makes to a visual media Francis should be played by Lewis Black

Engrossing

If you could sum up A Kiss Before the Apocalypse in three words, what would they be?

Three words: Angels, Demons and Men

What other book might you compare A Kiss Before the Apocalypse to and why?

I would compare this book to the series Supernatural, though a little more gritty and in depth with more of a love of angels and dogs.

Have you listened to any of Luke Daniels’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Luke Daniels never lets me down, even if the story does.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Every interaction with Remmy and his wife gets to me. I can't think of a person, male or female, who wouldn't think: I hope it's like that for me...
