About this listen

In this action-packed Hank Fallon Western, the falsely imprisoned lawman finds himself holding the keys to one of America's most dangerous penitentiaries....

He's always on his guard.

As both a prisoner and an undercover operative, US Marshal Hank Fallon has faced down some of the most vicious, terrifying, cold-blooded thieves and murderers in the West. Now, Hank is finally free, and he's got no intention of setting foot inside a jail ever again.

But the new federal prison being constructed in Leavenworth, Kansas, needs a warden, and Hank is the right man for the job. He's got the scars to prove it - and to keep the peace. But keeping these lawless hornets in their nest is no easy feat. And when several escape before Leavenworth is at maximum security, they take Hank's family hostage.

To save his wife and baby daughter, Hank will have to get as down and dirty as the devils he's pursuing - and they won't be taken alive.

I loved the first few books… But this one seemed like it was really just stretching for filler. They repeated so many of the phrases so many times and literally it seems like almost nothing happened until the last two hours of the book. How many times can you keep reiterating the same “ I am so tough because I have a deep voice and a look in my eye“ style narrative. Or just recapping what’s been done in all of these stories before.

A lot of it just drowned on and on and it was day today. Happenings of some guy moving and starting a new job. Just wish there had been more because I do like the series but this one was pretty disappointing. Thank goodness the last hour was actually interesting.

Not as good as the first few.

This entire four volume series was one of the best Western series I ever read. It was realistic and exciting and Hank Fallon’s story was compelling all along the way. I wish we could figure out who the ghostwriter was who wrote these books, because I’d love to read more by them. But alas, NDA’s and legal contracts being what they are, we likely never will know.

Nevertheless, so grateful who wrote these did so and so well.

And the narration was outstanding. Love this reader.

A great ending to a great series

Good Western storytelling. Fallon is tough but honorable. It is a great listen to on the road driving.

Good western
