About this listen

The first story in a fiery new series about the west's most dangerous boomtown, and the reformed outlaw who risks his life to keep it safe....

In the dark shadow of the Prophecy Mountains lies the ramshackle town of Rattlesnake Wells, where dreamers come to make their fortunes, and desperados come to die. The streets of this little settlement are slick with mud and stained with blood, and it will fall to Bob Hatfield to sweep them clean. The town marshal, Hatfield, has a young man's face, but his eyes are those of a killer. He is a good man, but he has a secret that weighs on his soul.

In Texas, Hatfield was known as the Devil's River Kid, one of the most feared outlaws to ever ride the Lone Star State. He fled Texas after a showdown with a corrupt rancher turned bloody, and he vowed to start a new life on the right side of the law. But when some ghosts from Hatfield's past catch up to him, this gunslinging marshal will risk his life to protect the savage town known as Rattlesnake Wells.

Good enough

I like all of William A. Johnstone. He writes a pretty predictable western but it passes the time while working in the shop.

haven't finished yet but..

I love the author. I like the voice of the narrator it is just the tone is so low that I am having trouble hearing it. my headphones are maxed most of the time and I miss things from time to time. I listen to about 5 to 7 books a week. this is the first time I have had this problem with audible I have had tone problems with cheaper audio book sevices.

Rattlesnake Wells,hard to follow.

This book was less gory, but it still didn’t tell the story as smoothly as it could.

Perfect pairing of story and narrator.

A rip-roaring good ride . My smile started with the first word and is still going. I'll be looking for more from the author and the narrator. Yehaw!

Rattlesnake Wells Wyoming

I enjoyed this author's writings. great book gives you someone an idea of what it was like going after bad guys that have escaped from jail or have committed horrendous crimes. I'll also gives you an idea about crooked Marshalls and good guys

Narrator

The narrators voice is awful. To low, to flat, to hard to understand. Good story.
