A Picture of John Wilkes Booth

Most Americans know that John Wilkes Booth assassinated President Abraham Lincoln. But what was he really like? Diana Rubino paints a vivid picture of "Wilkes" as he was known to his friends, or "Johnny" as he was called by his lovers. We see Booth as an actor, womanizer, confederate supporter and spy, determined to make his mark on history. I enjoyed the story with its forays into the spirit world and well-drawn characters. The narration sadly had some notable flaws but did not detract from the quality of the story.
