Within the tangled roots of grief, we stand to lose so much. No one ever acknowledges what we stand to gain.
Strength. Perspective. Appreciation. Resilience. And sometimes, every once in a while, if you're truly lucky… There is love.
After an emotional cliffhanger, we finally get inside Cal's head and discover his secrets, along with more details of his tragic past that have been keeping him from Lucy.
A Pessimist's Guide to Love is the final installment in the Heartsong duet, ending in an HEA.

I truly enjoyed this story. The character growth was perfection and progression of the storyline was immaculate.
Audio review- The overall narration was really good. The narrator’s did a great job bringing these characters to life. I was not a fan of Charlottes male voice and would have rather Gabriel narrate for Cal even when in Lucy’s POV, but it did not take away from the story. This audiobook is definitely one I would recommend, great job to everyone involved!
Another work of art by Jennifer Hartmann 💔 ❤️

The first book was really good but left you with such a cliffhanger and so many unanswered questions.
The second book delivers all the heartache, all the truths, all the healing and all the love.
This is so good there was one point i thought omg i am going to cry ( which is pretty hard to achieve so i am very impressed with anything that moves me to tears. ADHD & 28yrs in healthcare, and more personal losses then anyone should deserve, it either needs to be on my period sadly, or have truly epic moment in order to make me cry) this Author and Narrators did SUCH an amazing job of showing ALL the emotions good and bad and laying everything bare. I was listening to it while driving and i thought i need to pull over just to feel all the feeling for these characters.
Cal and Lucy are just everything.. they are love, loss and healing all wrapped up in a messy package that slowly they both unpack all the messy bits and find a way. It’s so hard at times to watch them struggle so hard for all the wrong reasons and sometimes the right reasons. Lucy could be so manic and over the top with her anxiety but Cal knew just how to help. Cal was so sure that he would ruin anything he touched he couldn’t take a step forward unless she was there to guide and push him, sometimes in a good way sometimes in not so good ways but with good intentions. They both are each other’s key to breaking free from all their shared and personal demons.
This was such a heartbreaking yet also beautiful story of loss and love and redemption. I was soooooo‼️‼️ afraid the last 2hrs of the book that Lucy would die or Cal was in a freak accident.. i was just on the edge of my seat but i am so very happy with the ending that can warm my heart.
One sidenote, as being a healthcare professional, after all this fussing about Lucy‘s heart condition, the ending kind of confused me. A lot of people with major heart conditions have a really hard time bearing children because of the stress on the heart. So much fuss made over her heart condition that part made it a tiny bit unbelievable for me but still, I really enjoyed the story and I like the way it ended.
Great Narrators. Age appropriate, good strong sounding readers, poured out all the feeling properly! A++
Book 1 had implied spice but it grabbed your attention but book 2 brought all the good spicy times. I could have used a few less sex moments to be honest. The last little bit of the book i was like oh ok we are having amazing sex again ok.. then a tiny bit later oh amazing sex again. But it didn’t take away from the story so it’s all good. There was actually a really funny incident with her mom that made me laugh out loud.
This was a great read and i would suggest it to others.
Off to the next great 📖 book.
