About this listen

"A skillful narration of this story, especially its humor, makes this a fun and enjoyable performance"—AudioFile on Can't Spell Treason Without Tea

Bookshops & Bonedust meets Our Flag Means Death in this cozy fantasy on the low seas, where lesbian pirates find out if enemies actually can become lovers!

Kianthe and Reyna are on the hunt for dragon eggs to save their hometown—but it requires making a deal with Diarn Arlon, lord of the legendary Nacean River. Simply capture the river pirate Serina, who’s been plaguing Arlon's supply chains, and bring her in for justice. Easy peasy.

Begrudgingly, the couple joins forces with Bobbie, one of Arlon’s constables determined to capture the pirate. Except Bobbie and Serina have a more complicated history than anyone realized, and it might jeopardize everything.

While Kianthe and Reyna watch this relation-shipwreck from afar, it quickly becomes apparent that these disaster lesbians need all the help they can get. Luckily, matchmaking is Reyna’s favorite pastime.

The dragon eggs may have to wait.

Cozy, fun, and a bit of high adventure.

Overall - super fun, light, cute, and wholesome. Had me vocalizing many times, whether that was laughing or cheering or exclaiming. It's easy to get involved with and care about these characters.

Just to get it out of the way, my ONE complaint is that the (otherwise lovely) narrator has a habit of shouting the chapter titles. "CHAPTER one...." etc.

Otherwise the narration is great. good pacing, recognizable voices, good accents, etc. A great performance.

I am very much enjoying the Cozy RPG/Adventure genre and this is a great example of it.

Beyond Obsessed

I can’t praise this book enough, it is so captivating and adorable, adventurous, sassy and everything my little pansexual pirates heart has been needing 💙
The person reading has really good infliction and honestly uses the best voices!
I don’t want to spoil anything, so if you’re seeing this before listening to the series, get it, it’s worth it.

Just wow 10/10

The narrators voice and the writing is so perfect that it just ensnared your attention. The dynamic between characters is god send and perfect. My wife and I have listen to this at least 3x already.

Solid Sequel!

While I admit I like the first book best (so far at least! Apparently there will be at least four in the series!) this is an excellent sequel that brings in new characters, dilemmas, and of course a plethora of puns!

A Sweet Read

While I must admit this series isn’t my usual cup of literary tea, it’s a fun and easy read. I came upon it after reading Thorne’s This Gilded Abyss (which was terrific) and had not previously read a “cozy” novel, but I understand the novelty now. Narrator Jessica Threet did a wonderful job. She provided a particularly noteworthy performance of the dastardly pirate captain, who is described as having an accent that couldn’t be ascribed to one place, and Threet masterfully shifts accents mid-sentence, which was quite neat to experience as a listener. The writing itself could use a little extra polishing at some points, but overall I would recommend it to anyone looking for an easily digestible narrative—perfect for a drive or before bed. Looking forward to the additional installations next year!

The day they almost caught the mage and her wife

A fun sequel with pirate in a cozy adventure with our favorite couple. Also a bonus one hour erotic chapter at the end with warning for viewers just in case that not their thing. Honestly prop to the narrator for being talented at everything, including narrating erotic scenes. Prop to the author for making another delightful and fun story.

The Last Arlonian Pirate

And it's a heave-ho, hi-ho, comin' down the plains
Stealin' wheat and barley and all the other grains
It's a ho-hey, hi-hey farmers bar yer doors
When ya see the Jolly Roger on Arlon's mighty shores

It's great, if you liked the first one you'll enjoy it.

Lovely sequel, great narration

The adventure continues. If you liked the first book you’d love this one. The narrator is great too. Made the book and characters come alive.
