About this listen

In the year of our Lord, 1823, Williamsburg, Virginia, Sophia Thorn lives on a tobacco plantation, but life is far from peaceful. Her father is a tyrant and she longs to escape to a new life, away from his control. Her twin brother, Isaac, unbeknown to her father, earns his money from piracy and between them they are trying to save enough money so that she can escape. But it isn’t easy. With her brother away at sea and no funds of her own, she formulates a daring plan. If she can stow away on a ship, she can somehow meet up with her brother and join him on his own ship.

As it turns out, the ship she chooses is captained by none other than Jack Steel, a man she met briefly and is instantly attracted to. When he discovers her identity, will he send her home or help her escape? And how will she survive on a ship with him for several months if he does decide to let her stay?

Publisher's Note: This action-packed romance contains elements of power exchange.

Most Boring & Offensive Purate Story Ever

The virtual reading was excruciatingly tedious. But even a real actor or actress couldn't make this piece of crap story romantic or enjoyable.

Apart from the lack of any character development that would make any reader root for or believe any love story at all among any of the characters, the constant spanking of the Heroine by the Hero like she was a naughty child removed any doubt. The final minute in which the author expresses through the female heroine that she was so appreciative that he was there for her enough to spank her & how she saw her sore bottom as a sign of his love was sickening. Unlike a sexual encounter where two consenting equal adults might engage in rough play, this made me want to offer an intervention.

Truly awful. I've listened to over 490 romance genre books this year. This was the worst, and the only one I ever rated as a 1. Dear author & narrator-chooser... try harder. This was pure shit spiced with occasional decoratively trite romance language.
