Christian perfection - what is it?

Many have debated the topic through the centuries, and yet, it is still an object of deep focus within many circles in the body of Christ. John Wesley has in A Plain Account of Christian Perfection beautifully described Christian perfection in a way that is practical and smart. John Wesley brings about a very honest portrayal

John Wesley brings about a very honest portrayal of what Christian Perfection is alongside with a walk with Christ is like through that. I loved it and would like to sit down to read it further in order to fully grasp the concepts :)

not what I initially expected. I thought it would be about doing everything perfectly to get God's favor or just talking about sinlesness the whole time but it was actually refreshing .

Challenging and Clarifying

I was excited to read this book as I come from a more reformed background but have a great admiration for John Wesley, Adam Clarke, and great and gifted teachers in their tradition. I have heard many people speak harshly of Wesley’s view and many times they would speak about it in such a negative and crazy way that I thought “you must be mistaken somewhere.” Sure enough, I found that Wesley’s own explanation of Perfection was in fact totally different than I had anticipated. The more he explained what he meant, and sadly I do think he could have picked a better term but that’s neither here nor there now, the more I found my appreciation for him grow. I still have some places of disagreement that I wish I could ask him about, but alas one day! A good and challenging book!

I’m glad to find this since many ppl misrepresent. Prayerfully listen

If fairly, humbly, and wholly listened to, it will challenge us beyond our own means but provide hope through the Holy Spirit. Not to an unattainable human perfection but to a Spirit begun(John3:5,6), led(John16:13) and finished(1 Thes. 5:23) sanctification(1 Pet 1:2).

A classic theological work in audio format

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I've wanted to read John Wesley's ideas regarding Christian Perfection for a long time. I just couldn't bring myself to sit down and start. So, when I saw it available in audio, I jumped on it. And, I am glad I did. I can't say I agree with everything Wesley says, but this audio book made it very convenient to hear his thoughts.

Which character – as performed by Robert J. Shaw – was your favorite?

The quality of this audio book is top notch. Robert J. Shaw does a fantastic job.

Reason meets Experience

The Wesleyan Quadrilateral is seen in this account of the great man’s attempt to quantify Christian perfection as viewed through the lens of Scripture. Well worth listening to (and preferably a read as well) for any serious follower of Christ.

Life changing book, masterfully narrated!

Thank you to the narrator. It is evident that you know the Lord and have narrated this book with all of the joy, hope, and love that Wesley himself must have originally expressed these thoughts with!
