About this listen

In A Scattered Life, Karen McQuestion proves to be an adept chronicler of unforgettable female characters. Poignantly written, she thoughtfully examines how women love, learn, and come to accept themselves and others, as well as life’s often harsh realities of deception and loss. Skyla Plinka has all she could ask for - at least that’s what her mother-in-law Audrey thinks. On most days, Skyla agrees, yet there’s a part of her that longs for her free-spirited days before husband, child, and the humdrum life of rural Wisconsin. Close friend Roxanne (and the five sons she can’t seem to keep tabs on), offers a reprieve, but it isn’t until Skyla takes a part time job at her local bookstore that she starts to feel at home in her own skin. Her growing independence causes conflicts with her husband, her in-laws, and even her best friend, but in the end, Skyla learns what it means to love and be loved in this unsure journey called life....

Narration too sing song for serious story matter

The story was nothing exciting but did portray women's lives and struggles fairly accurately. The narration made me want to stop listening on several occasions.

Slow start but loved the end!

It took me a while to get involved with the characters but each chapter was better than the last.

Too sad!

I thought this would be a light, funny listen -- not so much. Also the narration was really rough in the beginning. It either got better or I got used to it, but I ended up sticking it out and kind of wish I didn't.

great read

Loved the characters, even Audrey. Such a good story was surprised with how things turned out. Laughed and cried.

just ok

it was a good book sad ending. I think the thing that ruined the book was the narration. she sounded like a robot at times so it made the characters hard to relate to.

Not my favorite listen

Lots and lots of narration with no idea where it was going or why it was being told. Nice ‘lesson’ in the end, though.

An interesting story about Nothing at all.

I struggled to be finish this book, but I can tell I am the wrong audience for it. I hate reality shows, and this is a book about ... day to day suburbs life? . No flare, good take away. but not my kind of book.

Eh...

The narrator sounded like she was reading a children's book. I'm still not really sure what the point of the story was overall...

Waste of time

I couldn't make it past chapter 7. l kept thinking that the point of the book would be revealed eventually but I just could not stand it anymore. The narrator sounded like she was reading a weather report.
