About this listen

Priscilla Allgyer left the community in hopes of escaping the expectations of Amish life. Now, years later, she is forced to return to the place she thought she'd left behind forever - along with her six-year-old son. Though once estranged from her family, Priscilla is welcomed by her mother, but her father is cold and strict. He allows Priscilla to stay with them provided she dresses plainly, confesses her sins, and agrees to marry within the community.

As Priscilla reluctantly completes her shunning, she catches the eye of Mark Riehl, a farmer with a playboy reputation. Wary of Mark, Priscilla barely gives him the time of day - while Mark, unused to being ignored by the women of Bird-in-Hand, won't give up the pursuit of her friendship. Priscilla desperately needs a friend in Mark, even if she doesn't realize it - and after Priscilla's father and the bishop catch her and Mark in a compromising situation, the two are compelled to enter an awkward, unexpected engagement.

After Priscilla and Mark marry and live as friends, affection quietly grows between them - but Priscilla struggles to open her heart and reveal the painful secrets of her past. As Mark works to earn her good faith, can they both learn the hard lessons of love and trust? And can two friends discover a happiness that only God himself could have designed?

Great Serie

The progression of these story were amazing. From the three books I have read they were all unique and the story flowed well. Would recommend. The only thing I would say needs a little improvement was the narrator pronunciation of some of the Dutch words used throughout the three books.

More Suspenseful!

This third book in the Amish Homestead series was more suspenseful and gave a deeper understanding into the Amish way of life. I thought it was the best out of the three.

Overly repetitive, depressing TSTL heroine

The narrator is fabulous. If I have to hear one more time how the heroine is afraid to allow any affection to HER HUSBAND AND LIFELONG FRIEND WHO SHE WILL LIVE WITH FOREVER AND NEVER ONCE DIES SHE TRY EXPLAINING HOW SHE FEELS YET SHE’S SURE HE’S REJECTING HER after years of being just fine cohabiting and giving her affections freely to a man who treats her like sh* I might scream. Then instead of showing any kind of progression in the relationship or a realization on her part that yeah he’s great, yeah she’s happy…. One conversation 99% of the way through and it’s cold to hot. Uggh I wanted to shake the heroine. The only reason I finished was I was driving and traffic was heavy. Uggh. I’ve evicted her other books but this one was frustrating and frankly depressing.
