Publisher's summary

One word can lead to a thousand, but one secret might cost them everything.

Tyler’s last year of residency is all work and no play, just the way he likes it. His life would be smooth sailing into his medical career if he could improve his bedside manner. He agrees to a blind date but only to practice communication skills. Then, he’s speechless when he sees who is across the table.

Sissy isn’t one to turn down an adventure, especially not a blind date with a reportedly handsome doctor. When the blind date turns out to be her brother’s friend, Tyler, she’s not at all disappointed. Can she convince him to go with the flow for once?

He’s cautious, and she throws caution to the wind. When Tyler’s loyalty is torn between his friend and the woman he’s falling for, one unspoken word could be enough to change everything.

Inconsistent southern drawl muddies the character flow.

For me, Sissy's southern drawl in the female voice but not the male voice was too much.
I like the series. I like the character backstories, and connections. The southern drawl just made me wonder why she sounds that way but her mother, Dalton, and none of her lifelong childhood friends have a southern drawl. It was extremely distracting.

Great Story!

Sweet story! Loved the hero. Perfect proposal. Jay Dyess does great female voices and his hero voice is unbelievably real and SO romantic! I've already listened to it twice and will be listening again for sure.

Sweet and clean Christian romance

Mandi has written a sweet and clean Christian romance. Her characters are believable with real life struggles. I appreciate her duo character perspectives.

Lorana and Jay have done a really good job narrating this book. While I haven't listened to very many books narrated by Lorana, I think she does a really good job at portraying the main character. I've listened to many books narrated by Jay. As always he is spectacular. He has perfect emotions for each character and his pace is spot on.

I would definitely listen to another book written by Mandi and narrated by Lorana and Jay.

Best friend's sister

I enjoyed this sweet clean romance by Mandi Blake though I wonder what the big deal is about not dating your best friend's sister. Yes, my brother didn't want me dating his friends but they were jerks! The story line was good and kept my attention and I love the way Jay Dyess narrated his part. He performs so well that you experience what's going on along with the characters. I think Lorana Hoopes did very well with the conversation of the characters but the rest of her narration seemed almost to have a cadence to it, Her sentences seemed to be broken up and did not have quite as smooth a flow to them, I would listened to more books by Mandi Blake.

My favorite trope

I really liked this book. It’s my favorite trope. It was interesting to listen to a book with a female and male narrator for the different chapters, rather than different people speaking. I enjoyed the different aspects touched on here. It’s a great start to the series.

Fantastic audio!

I love the tropes of brother's best friend and opposites attract and they're both so well done in this story! Great characters are brought so vividly to life by Dyess's outstanding performance. It's enhanced by Hoopes who has narrated so many stories in this genre, she's practically the voice of sweet romance. What a wonderful collaboration between the three of them. If you need something to listen to this weekend, this would be a wonderful choice.

Sweet Romance

This was my first experience with Mandi Blake's work, and I enjoyed it. The story was charming. The characters were delightful. The dual narrations by Lorana Hoopes and Jay Dyess were what lifted this audiobook into an outstanding category for me. Lorana Hoopes' narration style of the quintessential girl next door captured the core of the story. Jay Dyess' narration painted pictures and engendered emotions which made me feel as if I was experiencing what the characters were going through. Jay Dyess is a gifted storyteller and I look for audiobooks narrated by him. I was gifted this audiobook and I voluntarily posted this review.
