Will the Boyfriend Bylaws Help Mel?

Would you listen to A Twist of Date again? Why?

Yes, I would listen to "A Twist of Date" again because it is funny, and i think with each additional listening to the book that one would get a detailed that may have been an enhancement to the story that was not noticed on the first listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

I enjoyed Melanie interactions with the other characters in the story.

What does Martha Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Martha Lee added tone change between the characters and different patter of speech, which gave each character more depth.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and no. Yes, I wanted to know what happen next without down time and no, I didn't want the story to end and keep the story going.

Any additional comments?

I received the Audible of “A Twist of Date” by Susan Hatler and Narrated by Martha Lee. I enjoyed the narration by Martha Lee, she made it easy to follow along and used differentiated tones for each of the characters. The author Susan Hatler did an amazing job with this story, it had me laughing at the “Boyfriend Bylaws” and Melanie character struggling with both dating and the boyfriend bylaws. Melanie’s story is relatable for some of us ladies as we love falling in love and sometimes miss the signs that the one we are falling in love with is not on the same page meaning…they are either just getting to know you phase or is only going out with you to have fun but nothing more. The author captures the complex actions and feeling that go with dating, especially for those of us who are in love with being in love and getting hurt over and over again.

Cute addition to the series

If you could sum up A Twist of Date in three words, what would they be?

Sweet, easy, relaxing

Who was your favorite character and why?

Patti because she was Mel's best friend and wanted the best for her. That's why she set up the by laws so Mel would stop jumping into dating situations and think more about herself first.

Which character – as performed by Martha Lee – was your favorite?

Patti

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes

Any additional comments?

Another great read by Susan Hatler!

Where does A Twist of Date rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Loved it. It was up there with some of the best. Enjoyed listening to it while commuting to and from work.

What other book might you compare A Twist of Date to and why?

Not a book but I can relate to it in real life growing up. Always hoping that he was the one and being naive and vulnerable.

What does Martha Lee bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I love her calm voice but how she has different voices for each character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Rules to Date!

Any additional comments?

Loved this book, I thought Patti was a great friend always there to support Melanie. Loved the Boyfriend Bylaws!

This is an awesome story

Would you consider the audio edition of A Twist of Date to be better than the print version?

I have not read the printed book. I very much enjoyed the audio edition.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Patti.... I love the way she was always there for Melanie....trying to show her what was right in front of her without pushing her. Showing her not every guy she dates is "the one" an she needs to get over the "love being in love" thing

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many great scenes...but I think the hiding in the room listening thru the vent was by far my fav. Reminded me of the crazy things I did with my friends in my youth.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The thrown together Bachelorette party. The scene between Melanie an her sister was very touching an opened Melanie's eyes.

Any additional comments?

This is a nice, clean an sweet story that sends a perfect message to young girls. Love doesnt have to be hard....let your past hurts go an open your heart.

another fantastic story

What made the experience of listening to A Twist of Date the most enjoyable?

The narration was wonderful but the story is hilarious and gets you involved from the start.

What did you like best about this story?

The characters but also the thing: the word of the day that was throughout the story. Yumzy, like sucks are the two I remember.

Have you listened to any of Martha Lee’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, the previous stories in this series. She does a wonderful job with the voices and inflections.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The story made me laugh out loud and I couldn't wait to continue the story if I had to stop.
