About this listen

2020 revised and expanded edition of Neanderthal Seeks Human and Neanderthal Marries Human from the Knitting in the City Series

Neanderthal Seeks Human, Book 1 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you need to know about Janie Morris: 1) She is incapable of engaging in a conversation without volunteering TMTI (Too Much Trivial Information), especially when she is unnerved, 2) No one unnerves her more than Quinn Sullivan, and 3) She doesn't know how to knit.

After losing her boyfriend, apartment, and job in the same day, Janie Morris can't help wondering what new torment fate has in store.

To her utter mortification, Quinn Sullivan - aka Sir McHotpants - witnesses it all then keeps turning up like a pair of shoes you lust after but can't afford. The last thing she expects is for Quinn to make her an offer she can't refuse.

New York Times best-selling author Penny Reid’s debut novel!

Neanderthal Seeks Human is book 1 one in the Knitting in the City series. Each book is a standalone, contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the misadventures and exploits of seven friends in Chicago, all members of the same knitting group.

Neanderthal Marries Human, Book 1.5 in the Knitting in the City Series

There are three things you should know about Quinn Sullivan: 1) He is madly in love with Janie Morris, 2) He’s not above playing dirty to get what (or who) he wants, and 3) He doesn’t know how to knit.

After just five months of dating Janie, Quinn - former Wendell and unapologetic autocrat - is ready to propose marriage. In fact, he’s more than ready. If it were up to Quinn, he would efficiently propose, marry, and beget Janie with child all in the same day - thereby avoiding the drama and angst that accompanies the four stages of pre-matrimony: Engagement, meeting the parents, bachelor/bachelorette party, and overblown, superfluous wedding day traditions.

But Janie, much to Quinn’s dismay, tosses a wrench in his efficacious endeavors and challenges him to prove his devotion by going through the matrimonial motions, no matter how minute and mundane.

Will Quinn last until the wedding day? Or will he yield to his tyrant impulses?

This book is not a standalone. It is the sequel to Neanderthal Seeks Human, and is book #1.5 in the Knitting in the City series.

Addicitively good read

The first book is so good, I absolutely fell in love with the whole lot of friends. I had to listen to them all one after another.

Great books but way too long!

Both stories- which are two halves of the same love story- are very good. But, they would have been better if they were each 8 hours, rather than 14! There was so much repetition and unnecessary details and side info that the story line got bogged down. Several times I was impatient with the extra words and wanted to skip ahead.

Have read these by hand at least 10x.

The narrator was ok. she tried hard. love these characters. How Quinn Sullivan is very good looking, highly intelligent, but most importantly to me, confident with out haughtiness, superego, and compassion.
So often, the way he responds to Janie brings to mind the near final scene of North and South. Richard Armitage's character on the train platform as he sits and gazes at Margaret as she rambles in her nervous and lovelorn state. His expression watching her is priceless. Adoration, tenderness, amusement and patience. This is Quinn Sullivan toward Janie. You can well imagine the seconds he must spend when she stops speaking and just gazes at her, fighting the urge to smile, shake his head, trying to school himself.
Janie is a loveable hoot!😙 Sometimes when we are nervous and overcome we just try too hard and the most rediculous things escape our mouths. She is in fact intelligent, but so socially ackward with him you just can't help but laugh and wish you could hug her at the same time.
So appreciative Audible has recorded these books. Masterpieces both.

Fun, quirky novel and novella sequel

I'm a big Penny Reid fan, and I love this novel. I was very excited to listen to the audio, and it did not disappoint. Janie and Quinn are a funny, quirky, interesting couple, and the narration by Jennifer Grace captured Janie's personality perfectly.

Highly recommend this smart romance. More than worth the price of a credit.

Fun romance listen!

LOVE this story by Penny Reid, & Jennifer Grace does a great job narrating, & Sebastian York is great when he does his small bits. They both did different voices for the different characters & excellent to listen to. I highly recommend this listen!

Pearls of wisdom and Humor diversity in each book.

I've listened to this series about four or five times. Each book is so different it is so hard to believe that one person has written all of these characters and their sense of humor are also different, as well as the depth of each character to teach us major life lessons. The funniest scene I have ever listened to in my life is in the second book in the Las Vegas when the girls are in the chapel and the boys come it never gets old. I also saw this had a low rating and I understand why. LD learning disabled/different/dyslexia Like Jeannie the main character. So I can follow and relate to all that goes on pretty much just because we learn differently and at times incompetent with our transposing of names numbers and etc. we like Asperger's can excel fire above the norm in different areas. However It's very accurate that many LD people feel like they're cheating and they should try harder, when they are working 2 to 5 times more than other people just to accomplish the basics. However it's the norm for us and the biggest Pearl of wisdom is we are all gifts, and it's our diversity that makes our world great❤️😮‍💨❤️

Humor was nice

Math was incorrect in the breakfast after chapter.. should be 280,000 not 210,000. It matters to us math people.
