About this listen

P.I. Sharon McCone is sick and tired of San Francisco's persistent rainy weather, so she jumps at the chance to investigate the sabotage of a movie being filmed on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. The documentary is based on the writings of Elson Wellbright, a descendant of a missionary family and scholar of Hawaiian culture and history. Wellbright's son is bankrolling the project and has angered many members of the family, who aren't anxious for the film to be completed. Soon the sabotage escalates into violence and the matriarch of the Wellbright family falls to her death during a shoot on a clifftop. McCone's investigation takes her into a world of family secrets, drug dealing, political insurgency, and murder.©1999 The Pronzini-Muller Family Trust (P)2008 Brilliance Audio Crime Fiction Mystery Private Investigators Suspense Thriller & Suspense Women Sleuths Women's Fiction

I would say this book was read by AI but AI can muster more emotion than this narrator.

The narrator has no personality

This narrator's voice was so stilted, it really ruined the story. Marcia Muller is one of my favorite authors, but the things I enjoy about her books were ruined by this narration.

Man, I love this series, but this book is impossible to listen to. The narrator is awful, she has this strange way of talking, it’s just horrible to listen to. I can’t even rate the book as written as it’s so irritating to listen to. If you are listening to this series, I’d suggest reading this one and saving your money!

Horrible to listen to
