Aab-e-Gum is one of the most fascinting books in Urdu on human behaviors, humor and satire with a tinge of sadness.
The story follows Basharat and his adventures in Pakistan. Throughout the book Basharat and his family learn to deal with Pakisitan, their new home while missing India. The book consists of a series of stories that help the listener understand what the author was experiencing as that transition is made.
About the author: Mustaq Ahmed Yusufi is an Urdu satirical and humour writer from Pakistan who has also served as the head of several national and international governmental and financial institutions. He received Sitara-e-Imtiaz and Hilal-e-Imtiaz, the highest literary honors by the Governmet of Pakistan in 1999.

It's worth noting, however, that the book occasionally suffers from repetitive lines, a minor issue that slightly detracts from the overall reading experience. Hopefully, future editions will address this, ensuring an even more seamless and engaging narrative flow.

It took me to the places and culture I had heard from my grandmother and read from other contemporary authors over the years. Even though I understand Urdu up to 70%, it was not keeping me from grasping the essence and enjoying the humor in its entirety. Those certain native mentalities and slang words were quite nostalgic and entertaining.
And the narration to such perfection!
Mr. Fawad Khan brought the characters and emotions so alive and quite desirable...I would rewind and listen to certain parts multiple times just to hear the emotions of the characters.
Thank you Yusufi Saheb and Khan Saheb for this wonderful experience!!
A literary and nostalgic delight!
