About this listen

Undoubtedly the most revered leader in American history, Abraham Lincoln has had more books written about him than all our nation's presidents put together. But for all that's been written, little has focused on his faith and how this quality shaped the man who led our country during its most tumultuous years.

Author Joe Wheeler brings to this insightful audiobook the knowledge gleaned from over 10 years of study and more than 60 books on the life and times of Abraham Lincoln. Skillfully weaving his own narrative with direct quotes from Abraham Lincoln and poignant excerpts from other Lincoln biographers, Joe Wheeler brings a refreshingly friendly rendition Lincoln's life, faith and courage. The stories, historical details, and powerful quotes will leave a lasting impression on your heart, your mind, and your life.

The book ended too soon, and I was thinking that it would be nice to hear more about the great acts of this servant of mankind.

Wonderfully written, and inspiring story of the greatest president in American history.

The author practices the unwelcome conceit of referring to himself as great and prolific. A good author would never refer to himself at all.

Self-congratulatory

Any additional comments?

This book presents a solid illustration of a man that demonstrated much love, sadness, success, and disappointments throughout his life. Being a Lincoln enthusiast for many years I still rate this book as the "go to" book for anyone wanting to get an accurate life view of this great American.

I don't really see the point of this book. It lacks historical accuracy and objectivity and is not very well-written. Grover Gardner's narration is, of course, exemplary. We are fortunate to have Gardner's reading of Shelby Foote's masterpiece The Civil War: A Narrative. All of the Lincoln stories are brilliantly recounted in Foote's book. That's the one you want.
