About this listen

Could Fitzwilliam Darcy harbor a shocking, sinister secret?

Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet count themselves among the many guests of the Kendall family, whose estate lies amid the picturesque hills, gorges, and rocky slopes of the Peak District in Derbyshire. Elizabeth’s cousin Rose Kendall believes her dashing brother-in-law, Captain James Kendall, is Elizabeth’s ideal match. Rose’s husband, Nicholas, hopes his good friend Darcy - a rich, proud, and taciturn gentleman with a spotless reputation - will fancy one of the other eligible lady guests.

News of a brutal killing at a neighboring estate sends a wave of shock through the genial group of friends and family. When one of the Kendalls’ guests is attacked, all of the gentlemen become suspects, but the former Bow Street runner tasked with investigating the crime finds the evidence against Mr. Darcy particularly compelling.

In this romantic mystery, the beloved couple from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice cross paths with a ruthless killer. When faced with dire warnings against Mr. Darcy, will Elizabeth heed them or follow the dictates of her heart?

If you like mystery and P&P read this book!

This book was lots of fun. I enjoyed it immensely. The title I think is slightly misleading, but to me it doesn't make a difference. Honestly many are accused in this book. The twist is a great surprise. The one teeny tiny thing I can possibly frown at is that two or three times a paragraph repeats itself. It kinda makes you think you've gone crazy for a moment.
BUT overall it doesn't matter to me because of how much I enjoyed listening to this story. Hence the 5 stars instead of anything lower.

Kelly Miller

MS. Miller has written a compelling story for Jane Austin fans. The mystery was intense, surrounding our favorite couple. It was difficult for me to pause the narrative as I couldn't find a place to stop anxious to hear what follows. As always Stevie Zimmerman was superb. I should note that on a few occasions the narrative repeated a portion being repeated. In the beginning that was a bit confusing, but soon understood it had just been another "glich". This is one I will definitely listen to again.

A book worth reading

I thoroughly enjoyed this variation of the Pride and Prejudice. It was written accurately, and the description was plentiful. If you enjoy historical romance, check it out. I highly recommend it.

Intriguing mystery

ODC fell in love rather quickly after a clear up of a misunderstanding. A serial killer attacked Lizzy but Lizzy lost her memory of the attack. A unexpected reveal of the murderer. Glad to see all the couples got together at the end.

Perfection!

I absolutely adored this book, and Ms Zimmerman does an amazing job bringing the story to life. Ms. Kelly takes the original Pride and Prejudice and made it her own. I loved it even more than the original, of which I am a huge fan! I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, clean historical romance. Happy listening!

Great story

This book is about Elizabeth away from Longbourn. She is staying with an aunt and uncle that is new to me. There are no siblings either. She goes visiting a friend in Derbyshire. She meets mr Darcy for the second time. There is some angst. Great story and a HEA for ODC even if it ventures off the canon story line.

Love story and murder mystery in one

I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. I like P&P adaptations that reveal Darcy’s thoughts. The speed of the love story was very quick but we’re supposed to believe D & E are having deep insightful conversations during their long walks. I liked the drama of the murder investigation threatening to separate the protagonists instead of family intrigue. I didn’t figure out who the murderer was until the reveal. There were so many guests. Everyone’s couples live happily ever after especially Elizabeth and Darcy. Which is how I like it! Lots of tender moments sprinkled throughout story. Nothing explicit. Narrator did a great job juggling so many characters.

Mystery Meets Romance

December 23, 2021 - Audiobook review
Equally as thrilling as the book version, Stevie Zimmerman’s brilliant narration prides the listener with another excellent performance.

Technical note: There are a few minor audio glitches in chapters 10-12 and, there is a short section at the end of chapter 17 that is repeated.

Goodreads book review - August 5, 2020
Accusing Mr. Darcy begins in London with the actions of a murderer. Miles away in Derbyshire, the Kendalls, a family known to Fitzwilliam Darcy is planning a house party to which he has been invited. Even more miles away in Hertfordshire, Elizabeth Bennet receives an invitation to the same party. As all invitees come together in this mystery romance, if you’re like me, you’ll become obsessed with trying to figure out “whodunnit”. I managed to figure part of it, but was ultimately mistaken on the “who”. Well done Kelly Miller!

Definitely a page turner, the mystery is interwoven with the reunion of Darcy and Elizabeth, who previously met at the Kendall’s wedding, where each had immediately misunderstood one another. Amidst unfolding events at the house party, they come to love one another. Of course they do. It’s Pride and Prejudice after all.

This book is a well-written tale with good dialogue, intrigue and suspense without the debilitating angst, along with splendid character portrayals. I highly recommend it.

Great love story and mystery

Enjoyed this book! There was a great love triangle aspect, which was interesting. Also a good mystery aspect which I did to guess until the end, I like the improved Darcy and Elizabeth was not as obstinate and shrewish as she can be in other variations.
