Publisher's summary

Near Houston, Texas, an oil refinery belonging to one of the world's largest multi-national energy companies is destroyed by a "backpack" nuclear device. This is just one of many attacks being perpetrated against this company around the world by a group whose mission is to stop global corporations and government organizations from plundering the world's natural resources in the name of profit.

Before this group strikes again, Jason Richter is called in with his top-secret high-tech military unit, code-named Task Force TALON. Richter believes there is only one strategy with which to snare his opponents: find, pursue, engage, and kill. And the only way to do this is to beat them at their own game: be unconventional, swift, and brutal enough to strike fear into the hearts of the most dedicated terrorist. Richter must also uncover a mole high-up within the government, who is in pursuit of his own personal revenge.

If Richter fails, it won't be just the lives of his team that are lost, but America itself.

Interesting

Of course the story was reasonable well put together. It felt a little jumpy. The characters were reasonable. There were indirect cliches. Narrator good. Cant say I'd recommend, but entertaining enough to burn some of my time.

Don't Bother

The plot was thin, predictable, hard to relate to and downright silly at times. It's a pity to see the author of Fight of the Old Dog and the subsequent Dreamland series of novels putting out such drivel. I guess he needs to keep the income flowing despite the fact that the ideas have obviously dried up.

Love Dan Brown, but Declined to Purchase

This is the third time now that I have gotten hooked on an authors work only to find that his/her subsequent books are available at Audible only in abridged editions. I for one do not like abridgements. They often are so poorly done I loose the sense of the story. Might as well wait until it comes out in the movies and get a butchered up video version of the novel.

Unabridged, why bother?

Unabridged versions are a total waste of time, akin to reading an outline for a book report!
