Publisher's summary

Southern hospitality with a smidgen of homicide

USA Today bestselling author Tonya Kappes brings you southern and quirky characters in her mystery series. Her stories are charged with humor, friendship, family and life in small southern towns.

Welcome to Normal, Kentucky where nothing is normal!

When Hank Sharpe asked me and the laundry club ladies to join him in an undercover investigation to help find a missing person, me and the ladies grabbed our sleuthing notebook without hesitation.

As undercover Forest Bathing Therapist trainees we were bound and determined to find out with happened to Kyra Tenney. When we did find her body in what appeared to be an accidental forest fire, we thought we were finished with our undercover act.

Only the coroner's report came back that our missing person had been killed before the fire.

Put on your sleuthing caps and join Mae West along with the Laundry Club Ladies as they take their investigation skills to a whole 'nother level! Especially after Mae finds herself in the fire!

“Wholesome”!

What I like about this book & this series is how there is no cursing, political agendas, or sexual scenes. Sometimes I just need a clean read & this is it!

Dottie FTW!

Tonya must be getting tired by now. I liked the story ok, but there doesn’t seem to be the same amount of care and thought put into this book as there was in the first. This one focused more on May’s inner dialogue. Re explaining all the details from the first book onward probably took up a quarter of this book. I realize Tonya wants each book to stand on its own, but the constant repeat of history drains a little enjoyment for those of us who started the series from the beginning and read chronologically. There wasn’t much substance on the townsfolk other than mentions in passing. The peripheral characters normally have more engagement in solving the mystery. In this book they went along for the ride but really, what did they do? Why were they even there? May was much more solo than she usually is. There were problems with transition between scenes. She leaves the retreat, goes home and then all if a sudden she’s back in the retreat without missing a beat. I was unsure how far the retreat was from Home, 3 miles? 3 minutes? 30 miles? 30 minutes. I got confused. One moment she is talking to the baker and coroner and the next thing she is talking to Hank and the Laundry Club back at the retreat. Hank and May don’t even seem like a couple. They feel estranged. Dottie was my favorite character. I laughed several times at her antics. Johanna voices her and her personality so well!
