About this listen
The President of the United States needs to kill the First Lady’s secret lover…and it’s not about sex.
First Lady Elizabeth Caen can't believe what she just overheard: the President of the United States is planning a shocking assassination. With no hard evidence to back her claims against her powerful husband, she faces the nearly impossible task of revealing the dark conspiracy to the world. She must do something...but what?
She’s forced to turn to the only man she can trust: her secret lover Owen, a respected Silicon Valley computer guru. What Elizabeth doesn’t know is that by night, Owen transforms into a criminal hacker extraordinaire, making millions taking down corporations by exposing their dirty secrets. No computer is safe from him. Not even the president’s. But what Owen digs up is far more shocking than they could have imagined.
Powerful forces are unleashed to stop Owen and Elizabeth. Will a daring escape on Owen's high-tech sailboat give them enough time to expose the murderous conspiracy?

Their clothes are torn and filthy, their hands and bare feet callused, they have fangs. They’re sister and brother, alone against the world. Where did they come from? Raised by wolves, they say. Kai and Holo are taken in by the police chief and his wife, and begin adjusting to life in a small town, attending school and going on dates. But humans, they find, are the most vicious animals. And the mystery of their upbringing brings dark and powerful forces to Kokanee Creek.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince. They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by. I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

My fiancé brought me tea and scrambled eggs in bed that morning, and we snuggled together, talking about buying our rings, and about our perfect wedding next year. Then we headed into town. He held my hand and gazed at the ring I liked best, a smile spreading slowly over his face. Then a glass of bubbly to celebrate. I felt flushed, excited and ready for the rest of my life with the man I loved. We race to get on the train home. It screams to a halt and I run towards its open doors. Made it. I think he’s right behind me — but when I turn around, he’s gone.

Fact Check and More Probing Tales is the third anthology of previously-published short stories by award-winning James Hanna. Stories range from an air-headed farm boy who is adopted by a beautiful bird that squawks "Fact check" whenever the boy gets into an untenable situation ("Fact Check"). Another is about a struggling writer who pens a maudlin book to mock his critics, but the joke turns septic when the book becomes a bestseller ("The Land Fish"). These are among twenty-two aberrant stories penned by James Hanna. This author is known to penetrate the human comedy while offering pathos, ...

This was like reading WSJ
One of my good reviewers, gave this a glowing report and I like this narrator. See Victor‘s comments. However, this author is not for me. I should’ve read the regular book reviews as well because if I had I would not have purchased. This book is not entertainment as far as I’m concerned. It is a literary commentary on today’s sad political situation. I have wasted a credit and it grates on me a bit. Not even a reader l enjoy can save this read for me. I should have been alerted when it had only one review. I have been spoiled by Reviews from Shelly and Wayne recommendations.

Captivating political thriller
Affairs of State is a brand new, thrilling, fast-paced, and entertaining political thriller from rising author C.A. James and his award-winning narrator Timothy Andrés Pabon.
As a huge fan of legendary authors of the genre like Tom Clancy and Robert Ludlum, I found Affairs of State to be a gripping narrative experience that kept me entertained and interested long into the night.
The story pulled me in right away as it follows First Lady Elizabeth Caen as she discovers a shocking conspiracy involving the President of the United States. With little evidence to back her claims, she faces the most impossible task of revealing the dark truth to the world. Her only friend in this dangerous mission is Owen, a Silicon Valley computer guru who leads a secret double life as a hacker.
But, as always with stories like these, it seems that the two of them have bitten off more than they can chew, so their lives are now in peril as they are hunted by unknown actors. The technical terms related to hacking add an extra layer of authenticity and immersion, making the cutthroat world of powerful politicians and corrupt individuals both terrifying and fascinating.
With over 500 audiobooks to his name, seven Earphone Awards, and as a nominee for both the prestigious Audie and SOVAS Awards, actor and bilingual narrator Timothy Andrés Pabon is the perfect choice for this audio production! He has been seen on House of Cards as Mark, a White House press correspondent, so I guess that he felt right at home recording this story.
His narration is outstanding, balanced, and pitch-perfect. He reads, he acts, and he infuses the story with emotion and urgency.
For anyone who enjoys political thrillers, Affairs of State is not to be missed. The plot is intriguing, the characters are well-developed, and the action moves at a perfect pace. If you’re looking for a captivating story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, this audiobook is a great choice.
