SOOOO Cheesy and Tons of fun

Yeah, so it’s cheesy- cliche of just about everything, all characters are military superheros in some way (great fighters, super smart and brave). Main character is like a Military Batman. Tragic backstory, heir to an empire, etc etc.
But it’s super fun. Sometimes you find these type of cliches and it seems like the author is using them because they can’t do any better.

This is more like capitalizing on it in order to give us the entertainment we want. It’s like an extremely rich literary dessert that appeals to our deepest, guilty-pleasure, good-guy loving tendencies.

But if you’re looking for deep, complex, or for tragic, flawed characters this is not your book.
This is all the high points of hero-fiction, distilled down to its purest form and multiplied by 10.

Narrator is good imo. Not- irritating and good with different voices, pacing, etc- and I’m super picky

Narrator disappointment

Perhaps I'm a perfectionist, but when I'm bothered enough to temporarily lose track of the story because the narrator grossly mispronounces a name or "properly " pronounces a word or name that doesn't fit the vernacular, it distracts greatly from the story.

Listening to this was fun

I've read the majority of this series and really enjoyed the books so thought listening would be pretty fun. It was! The narrator though pronounced some words differently, not saying right or wrong, just different than I've heard before so I had to think about what he was saying. By the third book, I was used to it and I enjoyed the voices he used for the characters. this was better than the second omnibus of books 4-6, the narration I mean. I am not going to listen to the rest as it can't compare to reading for me AND I see that the narrators change a lot throughout the series which, to me, is not fun. I like being able to recognize the charactesr by the voices the narrator gives them.

stumbled across it

I stumbled across this randomly, read the authors bio and thought i'd give it a chance, I saw a review that Cal was a mix of Rapp and Reacher, Just wasn't for me, I found it hard to get through but I went on as long as I could in hope it got better. Just not my cup of tea. Other people like it though so that is good, I wish Mr Cooper continued success.

Horrible narration!

The story was great but the narrator was awful but at the same time good. Unfortunately his weird accent and mispronounced words make the book extremely hard to listen to.
Instead of “been” he says “bean” also many other annoying pronunciation of common words that really detract from the flow of the story. I don’t know why thy would let this get through an otherwise good performance.
